T.J. Maxx — Local services in Washington

I’m deeply disappointed by the closure of Marshalls in Friendship Heights. For many families in our community, Marshalls wasn’t just a store—it was a reliable, one-stop shop that offered something for everyone: kids’ shoes, baby clothes, toys, home decor, and a full range of men’s and women’s apparel. When TJ Maxx reopened in its place, I hoped it would carry forward that inclusive spirit. Instead, I found a store that felt more like the Georgetown location—focused heavily on women’s fashion and home goods, with minimal offerings for children and virtually nothing for men. The kids’ section was limited to two racks; the only shoes available were Crocs. This shift feels like a loss—not just of convenience, but of a space where families could shop together. I will be boycotting the store until TJ Maxx restores a more balanced inventory that includes children’s shoes and broader family essentials. Our community deserves better. If we can all boycott and bring back Marshalls and stop shopping here, that would be amazing, as there is no place in this area to get children's shoes anymore and a one-stop family shop that we now have to travel 2x as far to get children's shoes or clothes for...

I’m a regular shopper of TJ Maxx since this location was located on Jenifer street but this location has shown many signs of unprofessionalism and discrimination in the past few months. I have came in and shopped and felt uncomfortable as employees follow me around the store as I shop. I normally would ignore these things but it has became a disaster. I have almost a decade of customer service experience and my opinion is the staff are stereotyping the customers that enter the store based off ethnicity and attire which is ludicrous. The line was extremely long on the main level and from past experiences shopping with the store I know you can checkout on the top floor. Once I reached the top level and stood in line the phone rang, which is very ironic. I’m not sure if their has been a change of management but they need to pay more attention to body language and behavior other than ethnicity and appearance. It seems like the only time the employees greet and interact is when they want you to sign up for a credit card. I am a good Cutumer of tjmaxx Chevy chase. But iam really disappointed by the unprofessional service of the lady in jewelry department ( Amel T.) I had to make a return for kids earing, and this lady didn't want to talk to me and let me at the register waiting for 14mn pretending looking for package box for a other client.
