We came here for Valentine's Day and I was gifted a card from Christmas I remembered to use but I would gladly have paid fully if we didn't. That's how exceptional the service, food, and atmosphere was here!
We had a reservation for 8pm and we arrived a bit before. We did not wait long to be seated, even though there was 1000 guests there last night (literally) our server David told us. Everything was wonderful once we got seated. Even the lady that fills our water and brought us bread before we got to David was super sweet and helpful. She also helps with table prep for the next guests.
They brought all the ladies a single white rose during their meals, which was a very nice touch and two chocolate covered strawberries which were ripe and juicy. My girlfriend and I enjoyed everything we had from my steak and lobster tails that were very nicely done and flavorful but not too over cooked, to the mashed potatoes which were creamy and delicious.
Then we got our drinks, which I enjoyed but I had to switch out once because one of them was not to my liking. David was very understanding and accommodating. He was a pleasure to have last night and we hope our tip reflected his great service. He was very knowledgeable and attentive. He made sure to get us our food quickly and checked on us throughout the night.
Then we ordered dessert. I got coconut cream pie which was scrumptious!! I didn't even want to finish it I took it home it was so beautifully done and delicious OMG. My girlfriend had the creme brulee which had vanilla bean in it you could see the specs of vanilla bean in the actual creme brulee. The fruit was fresh and delicious as well on her dish.
To top everything off they had beautiful arrangements of flowers all over and a wine cabinet that really complemented the space well showcasing the sophistication and elegance of this place.
I had heard great things and seen great things on their website and I can tell you with 100% certainty they do not disappoint everyone that we came into contact with throughout our night was super helpful and nice to deal with. They even told us as we were leaving to have a great night and they weren't the ones that helped us.
This place really sets a standard for what you should want and expect from a fine...
Read morePositives = excellent service, atmosphere, and drinks. Negatives = everything about the food. With respect to food, this is the single worst value for money in a restaurant I have experienced in years. Let me be specific. Re main courses. Scallops were so laden with butter and drenched in salt i could not finish them. And the polenta or starch they were served on was the same. Price $55. The salmon was little more than a baked defrosted filet from Costco. Nothing special. Price ~$50. Re hors d’oeuvres. We had a few but one - the fried calamari — was (- like other dishes) overly buttered and salted. Re bread: the two types of bread served at opener were warm but not remotely airy. Re desserts. The vaunted cheesecake was sweet but so far from a high quality dense and balanced New York cheesecake as to be unrecognizable. And my favorite dessert of all in good restaurants - the crème brûlée - lacked sufficient cream in the sauce, and worst of all had a paper thin hard sugar coating. in any decent restaurant that sugarcoating is a proper thickness that you have to tap your way through to get to the rich creamy filling. At this restaurant last week it was a failure.
In sum, this is a lovely environment to visit with people and the service is wonderful but if you go there, you should be prepared to spend ridiculous amounts of money for food that is marginally better than a Red Lobster or your local steakhouse.
Finally, I should add that most of my restaurant reviews are extremely positive so I do not make this review as one more in a long line of negative reviews. This place has great potential and some very good friends love going here so I just wish they would invest money to deliver a...
Read moreI’ve frequented this restaurant for years. Evan is the third general manager I’ve known. It is time for this restaurant to install a fourth We requested a specific table for Xmas Eve 2022. I was assured it would happen. I requested the same table a month ago and the host “made a mistake”. Hoping to avoid another “mistake”, I made this reservation in person, physically pointing to table 203. I received complete assurances. When we arrived, my family was dismayed to see others sitting at the table we requested again. The general manager Evan was at the host desk. I conveyed my disappointment that the restaurant failed twice in a row to grant our request despite being assured it would happen. Evan apologized explaining that the restaurant was very busy. My family was disappointed. Did Evan come to the table during our meal to check on us? No. Did Evan ask our server to offer a gesture of goodwill? No. Does Evan care if I return? Apparently not. I live in a luxury condo complex with 107 apartments and penthouses walking distance to this restaurant. I am a restaurateur and 50 year global hospitality industry executive. Does Evan care if I relate my dissatisfaction to my neighbors and others? Apparently not. Morton’s of Chicago and Ruth’s Chris are 1 mile away. It’s time to move my patronage and inform my neighbors and friends. When Even leaves, I’ll give Capital Grill Chevy Chase another try. Until then, Evan’s lack of empathy and attention conveyed that it’s time for me, my neighbors, and my friends to try the competition. On the way out, Evan was making small talk with a couple of bar patrons. He avoided eye contact. ...
