The following occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022 when I went to the Georgia Avenue mini Target to pick up an order that my wife placed online:
[After waiting in a long line, I approached the clerk, a surly young woman. She does not make eye contact or say anything.] Me: Hi, I am picking up an online order. [The clerk looks around as if miffed by my purpose, but says nothing. She notices that I am holding a bottle of shampoo.] Clerk: You want to pay for that? Me: Sure, but can you please get my online order? [Visibly agitated, the clerk mumbles something and looks around. It seems as though she needs a small tablet that another clerk is using, but does not explain anything to me. It also seems she is having a bad day, and, of course, I cannot possibly guess the cause of her agitation, so I remain patient.] Clerk: You want to pay for that? Me: Sure. Clerk: $6.33. [I tap my card.] Clerk: You want a bag? Me: I was just going to put it in the bag with my online order. [Visibly agitated by my renewed request, the clerk walks away and says something to the other clerk, who hands her the tablet.] Clerk: Name? Me: [I say my name and spell it because it is unusual]. Clerk: Huh? Me: [I repeat the spelling. She walks off without saying anything. The clerk returns with two bags, one of them I assume is for someone else because my wife ordered only a set of washcloths and two pharmacy products.] Clerk: Excuse me. [Rudely, to another customer in line.] Me: [Looking in the larger bag the clerk extends toward me, which contains several gray bath towels:] These are supposed to be washcloths. Clerk: No, they're not. Me: Ok. [Questioning myself for about 2 seconds.] Clerk: [To another clerk:] I'm going on break.
At his point, I looked back and saw the long line for the online order pickup desk. Rather than get in that line to await another clerk to make an exchange, I decided to just keep the bath towels and purchase the $2.50/each washcloths from self-checkout. However, when I went to the shelves, it looked like Hurricane Ian blew through and I cannot find the washcloths that the website says are in stock. I texted this story to my wife. She laughed and pointed out that we got bath towels for $2.50 a piece.
Honestly, I am not even mad, but just stunned that a business can be operated in such a manner. I'll be back because I don't want to have to drive to the full Target in Wheaton, but I doubt I'll ever use the online ordering function again.
Photo: These are not $2.50 washcloths, but $9 bath towels. Confused...
Read moreThree Stars because the store is kept clean and the employees that stock the shelves will tell me or show me the products that I want to buy. However, I have to agree with Ariel Ghee, another Customer that posted a comment on this site a week ago. As she stated the Security Guard(s) can create a very horrible experience. Today (10-05-2020) while I was shopping at the location, one of the Black male Security Guard called the Montgomery County Police Dept. on me. He and the other Security Guards watch and observe Customers on the Security Camera(s) which is not problem for me because I always pay for my purchases. He came out of the Security Office or from another location in the store to observe me as I scanned all my items and paid $142.10 with my card. I even told him to have a nice day as I left the store. He waited until I left the store then came outside of the store to see which direction I was going. I use Public transportation; therefore, I will wait at the Metrobus Stop that is in front of the Store. He saw me at the bus stop, and he returned to the Store just to call MC Police *Although the store is in Wash, DC, it is located closer to the MC- Police Station in Silver Spring , Maryland then the DC Police station at 6001 Georgia Ave. NW. While I was waiting at the Bus Stop, here come one Police with his or her Police Car doing that slow drive by then turn around a drove by again. What a waste of Tax payer money calling the Police on a Customer who had not shoplifted? My advice to all Customers at any retail stores, grocery stores, etc. * Is to keep your Sale receipts (purchase of proof) for at least two years so when they come for you. You will still have your receipt and can quickly send them on their way. I have to mention that I have notice in the past months that Security Guards/AP/Off-duty contractor Security Guards in all these retail stores, grocery stores, etc. has been as worth as __. went it come to trying to create problems or set up certain customers and call the Police even though the Customers has not shoplifted and have paid for...
Read moreThis review deals only with drive up services at Georgia Ave. and Eastern Ave. store in Washington, D.C. Due to a physical impairment another collects my pick up orders. I would not be writing this review if the incident happened once but several times is too much to handle. This location isn't set up for drive up because they constantly leave items out of your order but charge your card. Either Target has someone working drive up who can't read, see, or both. Recently, placed drive up order for paper towels and other items. Got notice from app order was ready which included the paper towels. When order arrived had all items except paper towels which was a huge disappointment. Okay called customer service to make them aware of the hiccup, paper towels were included in total order, charged to my card, but not with my other items. As usual, phone rang and rang but no answer. Finally, customer service answered next day. I explained about missing paper towels, gave order number and got no help. It was like talking to someone from outer space. Young lady said I had to prove I ordered the paper towels. I told her it was a drive up order, gave her my order number, and advised her that store could pull up my order as well. Got no where with customer service, asked to speak to manager, didn't happen, so stressed, had to hand phone to another to talk on my behalf. Still don't have paper towels I already paid for. Not only do they leave items off orders, they stuff a bunch of heavy items in one bag making it awkward to carry. Please check your bags before leaving this location and if you want to avoid a stressful drive up experience, shop Wheaton/Westfield mall location, much better. Target is still my go to store but not this particular location for...
