I would not recommend this salon to anyone with Type 4 natural hair that cares about the health of their hair. I came in earlier this week for a closure sew in (which is my fault because I hadn’t seen their previous work with closures, but I was desperate). They started off by washing my hair, but it was clear they weren’t skilled in detangling 4B/4C hair because she tried to brush out my hair DRY with some sort of tangle teaser brush. Once she started washing, things were going fine until she again started detangling my hair with that brush starting from the root. Ouch. After that debacle, we moved on to blow drying which was again a disaster. I don’t think my hair has ever been so poorly blow dried. She started from the root again which was extremely painful and left the ends tangled. I articulated that the process was painful, and it could be seen on my face, but she continued. After that nightmare was over, another lady in the salon braided my hair down. She repeatedly put more heat on my hair in an attempt to rectify the poor blow dry job and even reached for a flat iron (?) in an attempt to loosen my hair. I think it’s completely ridiculous to need a flat iron to cornrow hair. After the braid down, a third member of the salon began sewing in the tracks. My braids didn’t feel very tight, but the sewing in process absolutely was. I told her this and she told me “it’s supposed to be tight” and continued. Finally, she installed the lace closure, which she charged me an additional $20 to bleach (on top of the additional $20 for a closure sew in), and did a poor job. No plucking and she cut entirely too much lace. Again, I don’t fault the salon for this because I wouldn’t expect lace to be their specialty. In the end, I left extremely dissatisfied, and my hair was so tight, I ended up taking it out two days later. When I took it out, my scalp was inflamed and bleeding at my middle part from how tight it was. Overall, this salon seems to do traditional sew ins well and the ladies were nice, but I wouldn’t recommend them if you have long, thick type 4 hair or for a closure style. $220...
Read moreI got my hair braided last week. It was my first time using DMZ salon. I definitely appreciated the fact that they offer the service of washing your hair before braiding. I recently broke my ankle and needed a wash and low maintenance style for a few weeks. Mary and Leou (I’m sure I didn’t spell her name correctly) were very welcoming and accommodating. During my appointment, I needed to move my car. Mary moved it for me as I was on crutches and whatnot. I got small/medium knotless braids. Leou did a great job! The parts were pristine and she did not make them really tight as i had requested. She really took her time. I definitely will come back again for this service. I also appreciate that the price Mary quoted on the phone was the same price I paid. I have heard many salons not honoring this. Thank you DMZ salon for helping me during my...
Read moreI love this place, very diverse. From the stylist to the clients. This salon has everything you can need. They service men and women hair, nails, lashes and even wax coming soon. I had the pleasure in sitting in Mary's chair while she braided my hair. She was quick, gentle, and friendly.Mary even supplied the hair for me. It was the most relaxing hair experience I've ever had. This is the third time I've gotten box braids and this was the top look! from the size and length and color. I've gotten so many compliments on my hair. Even from other women who had braids in their hair too. I got the knotless braids, and they looked so natural. I am very please with my experience with Mary at DMZ Salon. Can't wait to get my hair done again. Thank you...
