I'm not sure if it was just the manicurist I had, but this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a salon. When I tried to confirm a price I was given over the phone ($45 for acrylic set, no gel), she had an attitude and it felt as though she was trying to argue with me instead of just confirming what I wanted. Since this was my first time at this salon and everyone does it differently, I was also confirming different styles & each time she answered my question, it was so condescending- especially when I'm making every effort to be polite and cordial. Her customer service throughout was extremely subpar, but what frustrated me most was the way she treated me just for my nails to be half done and tacky. They aren't even painted to the nail bed and she let me get up without allowing them to dry under the fan fully, so there are a few spots that messed up- albeit less than noticeable. I completely understand having a bad day, but her treatment was so disgusting and ostracizing that I don't plan on going back- even though the other women...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been going on and off to the salon for about 4 years. There were times I stopped going because I didn't like how long my gel polish would last but then I would go back and forth. I found that as long as you get at least two coats of gel and two top coats, you can make the nails last at least 3 weeks. During the times my gel didn't last two weeks, they would fix it with no problem. They take a lot of walkins, but you won't see a whole lot of interaction between stylist and customer, which is fine with me.
Sometimes my nails have taken what I feel like is an extraordinary amount of time, once over an hour and 15 minutes. Just note it's usually 45-60 min for gel polish removal and gel manicure. I've also had pedicures there and enjoyed those very much. The staff is pleasant, it's really just a neighborhood nail salon that does a quality job without a ton of thrills. They do clean work and prices are average for DC. It's located directly above the Cleveland Park Metro on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI asked politely but repeatedly for the manicurist to be more careful with the cuticle clippers because it was painful. She kept pointing out that I wasn't actually bleeding. A colleague came over several times and spoke to her. It wasn't in English but I assumed she was telling her to be careful. She jabbed me so hard when she got to the 7th finger she'd worked on that I told her I was done. Her colleague came over and again tried to argue with me, saying that I wasn't bleeding. Yes, I wasn't actually bleeding but it took days for my cuticles to heal. This wasn't my first manicure so I know this is abnormal. I might not have written a review if they hadn't tried to argue with me that cutting me was ok as long as it wasn't bleeding. Judging from the other reviews here it seems I was lucky not to go through with...
