Buffalo & Bergen - Cleveland Park — Restaurant in Washington

Great addition to Cleveland Park for take out or casual breakfast/lunch. I've really enjoyed their twist on breakfast sandwiches. I do have two minor complaints, or I would have given five for food. The main thing is that the coffee is incredibly weak. They have bags of Ceremony beans stacked against the wall, so I know it's quality coffee, but when it arrived I could tell it was coffee flavored water. I can't imagine they save so much money by making weak coffee, so why not step it up? I had the same experience at the Union Market location, so it doesn't seam like just a location-specific practice. Also, although the bagels are fantastic for sandwiches, in my opinion they don't stand up as well on their own. Too soft and "roll-like", but that won't keep me away. This place was fantastic the first time I went probably the best gluten-free dairy free bagel. I have had in a while but the last three times I’ve been there though I’ve been completely disappointed the vegan spread that they had originally was phenomenal. Whatever they have now is absolutely terrible. It taste like nothing, with a hint of something foul I can’t think of a comparison though. the last time I went I ordered a gluten-free bagel with dairy free cream cheese and they just gave me two bagels toasted with no cream cheese. The consistency is what I’m looking for. I go there when I’m kind of in a hurry, and I need to eat something before work, and when they mess with the order it messes with my day cause then I really don’t have time to eat until the evening after my shift. Was in the Cleveland Park area of Washington, DC for my kid to have a shadow day at Burke School. On a cold overcast morning I needed some breakfast, and Buffalo & Bergen answered the bell. When I walked in the door, I was warmly greeted by several staff members. After a review of the menu I made the choice to dine in. My server was pleasant, informative and a delight. I was able to get a home made Diet Coke, and a breakfast sandwich. My food came out quickly, and it was fresh, flavorful and delicious.
