The type of place people would consider a store for poor people. That may be true to a point, but I'm telling you, go check it out sometime. I can save some good money shopping here. This place is either a hit or miss depending on when you go. They do have things more organized than the last time I went (2015). Always check the expiration dates, things are either expired or near expiring. I got a decent amount of snacks and canned goods for under $20 today (not expired items). Not the best place for meat and frozens, they have items from 2014 still in the freezer.. A plus is fresh bread, milk, eggs and dairy products. You CAN get some great steals. To stretch my family's budget, I always go here first on my shopping trips. And get what I can, and then go to the much more expensive, name brand supermarkets or the farmers markets to get whats left on my list.As long as you read the dates on products and look around (huge store and variety ) anyone can save money shopping here. The customer service is ALWAYS top notch. I would recommend this store to everyone, regardless of their household income. They have name brand products (and no name brand) for huge discounts. I have been going to Caswell's for about 6 years. At first, I could find items for an okay price, but over the last couple years, the prices have gone up so high that they can be bought fresh across the road at Hannaford or Walmart for nearly the same price. Also, items that are priced too high and just sit there are not marked down. I think they're happy to let them rot on the shelf rather than mark them down. I am used to looking at dates and don't mind short dated or slightly past expiration items, but some of the food is a year or more past date. I still stop in sometimes, as occasionally something will pop up that I can use, but I really don't recommend this...
