Five Guys — Restaurant in Waterville

The people working seem like the best people and generally happy to be there, which is great for the set up where the diner can oversee the entire preparation of their food. The restaurant ambiance is fun and a little retro? I love how they revamped the old Friendly’s. On your way in, grab a scoop of peanuts in shell to crack and eat while waiting. I like the sign showing where the potatoes are from. I would definitely dine in if you could. I was short on time so I ordered my food online so I could eat on the go. The website warned if I got a milkshake that it wouldn’t be prepared until I got there, so I decided not to order one and got a cheeseburger and large fries. Only the burger was ready when I showed up. This restaurant does not start cooking the fries until you get there either. So I got the milkshake anyway, which was delicious. The burger is giant! I’m definitely ordering the little cheeseburger next time. And you can order as many toppings as you want which I did by saying “all the way”. All the way is explained on the menu and it’s my preferred way to get a burger. The fries are ridiculously awesome. I ordered a large which means a large soft drink cup filled as well as the bottom third of a decent sized brown paper bag. I could not come close to finishing. This is the 3rd time I've come to the Waterville location and been gravely disappointed. During this pandemic for them to offer curbside, and yet not bring it out is unacceptable. My wife waited in the car for 30 mins after texting to signify she was there waiting, only for her to actually go in and get the food without even a apology. She even called and they said they would bring it out and it was ready, stared at her through the window. She had enough and just went in grabbed it and left, They had a few customers inside and maybe they got busy which is possible, but to not even say hey sorry about that it was busy, they just stared when she came in to grab it. Now these things happen and this wouldn't be a issue honestly if the food was good. Both burgers were soggy from sitting there and the fries were cold and soggy. Yes it is because she had to sit there and wait. The first two times we sat in and order was not done correctly, missing items we requested, or just in general rudeness from employees who honestly don't seem to even want to be there, i cant say i blame them. I came in around 830, an hour and a half before this location would close. I was the only patron in the building when I walked in so I looked forward to a peaceful meal by myself. The entire time I ate, the staff moped, sweeped, and cleaned all around me during my 15-20 minute stay. Made me feel a bit rushed to say the least. I ordered a little bacon cheese burger with my preference of toppings, a regular drink, and a small fry. My fries were so heavily salted I couldn't stand to eat more than half my small, something I don't usually do. A good crisp fry with the right dip can make a fry, and these were not it. My little bacon cheese burger lacked the bacon I had ordered, and when I asked if I can could have some, they gave me 4-5 strips of room temp bacon in a to go dish. Overall, I had plenty of great meals at this location, but they really dropped the ball on this outing. I hope it is better...
