Grew up here, watched as green valley stayed competitive and eventually beat out galaxy theater and the fox theater downtown. It was a cool place when it was competitive. Then it became the only place in town and you could literally watch as greed took over the business. One time they remodeled but made lateral changes and in some cases took several steps down. They had an expansion and they made no changes and I suspect they used back up theater chairs they already had to save a few bucks. Prices climb regularly, quality of service is in a constant state of decline, albeit they have a few nice people work there every now and then.
I wish I had gotten a picture but their latest scheme is a discount night on Tuesday's that they don't tell you only applies to certain movies on certain nights, so in other words one movie will be discounted but only that one movie for the week. It's cash only, they have an ATM that is not from any bank so it charges fees obviously. Then they have weird rules like "if your seeing a 3D movie then all must pay regardless of age" now that seems a little excessive. How many times did that have to happen for the owner to come up with that weird rule. I guess I can mention one last point of contention, another printed sign taped up in the window stating something to the effect of
"We've been experiencing blackouts and it's possible we may lose power during your movie , be reminded if this does happen you WILL NOT RECEIVE A REFUND" (yes it was even capitalized like that)
I wouldn't suggest this place, there are other theaters with recliner leather seats, some sell alcohol if that's you're thing, most have a better variety of food to choose from as well and they are all just a short drive away. Save yourself the disappointment and go with one of the bigger chain theaters in the area as they set a solid standard that green valley could only replicate in how much they charge for a ticket.
(Edit: I want to also preemptively inform the owner of this little dinky theater that it's disengenious and quite rude to snap at reviewers the way you do. We are allowed to make complaints in any way we want to as dissatisfied consumers. We are allowed to use both google and yelp for reviews and just because you don't agree and won't open your eyes to the reality that your theater is sub par doesn't mean that we are wrong. I find you to be very rude, your business practices are shady, your business itself is an embarrassment to local economy in Watsonville and your attitude is by far the sourest attitude of any "business owner" I've ever witnessed. Trust me, YOU are the reason for the bad reviews, you and your shady way of doing business. Do us all a favor and sell to regal or cinemark, hell even a United artists theater would be better. Good day and...
Read moreOnly reason I put one star is because of a recent incident. Over the years I’ve enjoyed movies and snacks at this location and most of the time the staff is friendly and helpful; HOWEVER this was not the case yesterday. So we had gone to a showing and my daughter completely forgot her purse. Immediately after leaving we went to Applebees which “shares” the parking lot with the cinema. We had just sat down and i asked my daughter for her purse. Upon realizing it was left behind I walked to the cinema and one young lady was kind enough to check but she failed to check the seats which she stated the cleaning crew sometimes doesn’t check. Soooo I asked if she could go again and check the seats and I’d tell her the exact seats we had sat in. At that precise moment the manager came and took over. She said unfortunately she could not because the movie had already started. But the showing was not scheduled until 7:30. And let’s be honest; there’s always some commercials and lil clips of upcoming films prior to the movie actually starting. Anyway, I told her she wouldn’t have to disrupt the movie because all she had to do was check the very back row which is where we had sat...I even said just let me go inside and if people aren’t sitting there no1 will notice. I mean people walk in and out all throughout the film going to get snacks or the bathroom, so me going and checking quietly wouldn’t be seems as disruptive. She denied my request. She said she would call me after the film ended which she failed to do. I called this morning and I was told no1 turned it in...which I warned would happen considering the purse had money in it. Let’s face it not everyone is honest and many will keep money if they find it. To be honest, I just wanted the purse back, even if it came back empty. It was a small Winnie the Pooh little girl purse I’d had growing up and my daughter wanted it so I gave it to her. Now it’s gone. All because someone wanted to do an exceptional job (even though it would have been far more exceptional had she actually helped out as the young lady did at first) so yeah if u ever go here make sure u tie your belonging to yourself because even if it’s been only 10 minutes when u go back to get it, they won’t let u....
Read moreWe had a horrible experience at this theater. We stopped here before going back to Monterey to see Justice League 3D. The start time was 550. We sat in the theater for 20mintues with nothing on the screen. Then an employee came in saying "I'm sorry this theater wasn't cleaned do you mind if we clean it and everyone was like it's okay we just want the movie to start". She was like are you sure and we all said we rather have the movie start since we all had young children in there. Waited another 10 minutes before the movie started. The movie was supposed to be in in 3D and it wasn't. Everyone in the theater asked everyone if they were seeing it in 3D and we said no. My husband went to tell them , he came back and said they were going to restart the movie. Well they restarted it to the previews again. This is now 45 minutes late to start. The children in the theater we're getting antsy. The movie finally restarted but then froze. My family and I left and asked for a refund. We got our money back but trying to explain to our boys who were looking forward to seeing the movie that we were leaving was hard. We won't be going back
To the Manager..I did talk to the manager about the movie not starting the first time. We couldnt stay longer because we still had a 30minute drive back and we picked the 550 start time so we could be back before 8. If we were local we probably would've stayed, but none of the employees came to check on our theater after we alerted management and team members to the issues our...
