Unimpressed with the service received, or lack thereof. Purchased a Predator 3500 generator on 10/29/2019. Exactly 15 days after the 90 day warranty expires the lcd display for the generator that displays the voltage and amperage stopped showing the wattage/amp output of the unit. I called and spoke to the assistant manager on duty on 2/11/20 and pretty much got a "tough luck, nothing i can do, this is how the warranties here work". In addition to the $700 for the generator I paid $160 for an extended warranty Apparently when you use the warranty for an exchange, you must then purchase ANOTHER warranty for the replacement unit! I called the toll-free # for harbor freight and also got the same, short explanation with no compassion about my issue or experience whatsoever.
Harbor freight knowingly sells mediocre equipment and I unfortunately fell for it. Then HF charges 20% for an extended warranty that, once used, costs the same amount of money for another warranty. By the time you get any use out of what you've purchased, you've paid for it 2-3x over if you can expect failures every 100 days....HF should do what's right and simply exchange it with an exception within the 90-day period so I can actually use the warranty I paid for when something catastrophic happens?
I've never heard of such shady, deceiving, deceptive and unethical business practices like this before. Read the fine print before making a major purchase there OR consider an option where you know you'll get the service you expect even if...
Read moreHarbor Freight is Harbor Freight so I know what I’m getting when I go there. I’m not rating the quality of the products but I am giving this store 5 stars because of their employee Jeanette who was super helpful. I work for a metal contractor and was at a job in Santa Cruz. We have a portable bender that uses the jack from a Harbor Freight hydraulic gear puller and ours failed that day. I called the nearest store in Watsonville to look for a replacement and Jeanette answered. When I explained what I needed she quickly looked it up and then walked to the aisle to confirm it was in stock. Half hour later she was the first person I saw when I walked in the front door and she told me right where it was. Then I go to checkout and she rings me up. When I mentioned it was a work purchase she offered me two copies of the receipt. She was cheerful and very professional. I thanked her and told her she was really good at her job. We were in a jam at our job site and she helped us finish our work that day. Thanks Jeanette! And Harbor Freight,...
Read moreThe management of the watsonville store needs to be fired immediately. I run a construction crew in watsonville and use all of the supply stores often. The Watsonville Harbor Freight store provided the worst customer experiencing of any of them which is surprising when one considers they simply sell tools. Their equipment is mis-marked, incomplete, and in this case dangerous. When I pointed this out to the managers they became defensive and outright hostile. When one considers that home depot will price match and give 2 years free financing then harbor freight simply can't compete. The only chance they have is to provide superior service and they fall woefully short. It is better/safer/cheaper to work with people who don't know what they are doing but are at least honest about it (home depot,...
