Unfortunately, I didn’t get to experience the great service that so many other customers have mentioned in their reviews. I was genuinely excited to support a Black-owned beauty supply store right here in Waukegan finally!

I went in specifically looking for products for my Locs, hoping to find items that are often hard to come by elsewhere. However, when I walked in, the young lady behind the counter was leaning back in her chair with her feet up, scrolling on her phone. That alone didn’t bother me, but what did was the complete lack of a greeting or any sense of welcome. She looked at me, almost annoyed by my presence, and after a awkward moment of silence, asked, “Do you want something?” in a very dismissive tone. I responded, “Umm… yeah” (because why else would I be there)?

Her irritated facial expression said it all. I didn’t feel comfortable spending my money in a place where I wasn’t even acknowledged with basic courtesy. I turned around and took my business to North Chicago instead...
