My family has been placing yearly orders for shrimp for over 40 years. Years ago Empire Fish also provided shrimp and lobster for Tomasini contractors Annual Christmas Parties. I requested to have shrimp cooked, peeled completely and deveined, I was assured me this would be done. Well the tails were still on, they weren't completely deveined, so my son and I had to wash the shrimp thoroughly to remove shrimp poop. The shrimp had different sizes, some much smaller, they were AlI supposed to be large. I contacted Empire fish on 11/25/22,and was told Empire Fish would no longer serve me because I complained. I was also told that I would have to return the complete 4 pound order to get refunded. Obviously i served this for the main course on Thanksgiving, and only had about 1 pound left. What an unprofessional way to handle this with a 40 + year relationship. All they had to do was say that they were unable to fulfill my order this year because of a lack of staff. Read moreWhen my family arrived there were 9 people inside and despite their signs there were parties of 3. Their signs say 1 person per party and a max capacity of 5. When I opened the door to confirm if it was okay to enter the staff said no, that’s okay I can get that, Covid is still a big issue, that’s not why I’m dissatisfied. My fiancé then tried to enter the store after two people exited and it was then they chose to enforce their social distancing. One has to wonder why they chose to let in those large parties to begin with if they were concerned for customer safety. Overall very disappointed, in the lack of social distancing and complete disregard for public safety
Edit: I came home after leaving Empire to have lunch and realized they didn’t put the oysters I purchased into my bag. Should I have checked? Yes, and they should’ve as well. Read moreStopped in to pick up some Smoked Salmon for New Year's Eve, I don't eat it but my partner does, & I told the gentleman behind the counter what size piece I'd like & asked him to pick out a good one. I was in the refrigerator less than 24 hours & when I served it I was embarrassed. It was very dry, like jerky dry, & way over smoked. I also asked for Smoked Chubs (again not something I eat) & he said they don't carry them but they have a similar fish it just swims in deeper waters but has the same taste. He's supposed to know what he's talking about so I purchased a few. They were worse than the Smoked Salmon I purchased. They were so dry & over Smoked you couldn't separate the skin from the meat.
