I was thrilled to receive a gift certificate to Honey Baked Ham as a gift from my employer. The certificate was for a 9 pound Honey Baked Ham, 2 sides, and one pie. I went in this morning to redeem the certificate to use at a New Year’s Eve feast with my family. The general manager of this store refused to honor the certificate, stating that he would not get paid the full value of the certificate back from corporate. He demanded that I pay the cost that would not be covered by the corporate team. As this was not what was outlined on the certificate, I asked him to reconsider honoring it. Not only did he refuse, but he was belligerent and rude to me. I called the corporate customer service team to try to sort this out while I was still at the store. They apologized profusely (while also hearing the manager in the background continuing to berate and belittle me) but as they were remote, the only thing they could do is direct me to another store. A formal complaint has been filed with the corporate team and I am on my way to Appleton, which is the closest store, to redeem this certificate. I could not be more disappointed in this location’s customer service. Shame on him for being greedy and not honoring a certificate that directed me...
Read moreWe decided to try Honey Baked Ham for the first time for Easter this year. When we arrived, we felt rushed by one of the ladies (which I assume was the manager, as the other appeared to be in training) even though we're the only ones in the store. It felt as though we were inconveniencing them with our questions. They were already ringing up the transaction, based on our questions and not our decisions. This felt very pushy. That aside, we purchased what we felt was a VERY overpriced 7lb bone-in ham, at over $80. We hoped the taste would cover the cost. Unfortunately, when Sunday came, the juices all leaked out of the bag the ham was in. I dont know if that was where all the flavor was, but this tasted like any other ham we have ever had from any random store. What on earth made this ham $80? We could have gotten a ham from a grocery store at $0.87 per pound and probably had more flavor. Lesson learned, and we will likely never return for another...
