I recently had the pleasure of dining at Serious Sanji, and it was a truly delightful experience! We started off with the pork and chive dumplings, which were pan-fried to perfection—crispy on the outside, juicy and flavorful on the inside. An easy 10/10 for the appetizer, setting a high bar for the rest of the meal. For the main course, I ordered the Chicken Sanji and the soup dumpling with a chicken filling. Both dishes were delicious, though I couldn't help but imagine that the pork options might take these flavors to another level next time. The Chicken Sanji was tender and satisfying, but I could almost taste how the rich, savory profile of pork might enhance the dish further. The soup dumpling was also enjoyable, with its warm, comforting broth, yet it left me curious to explore the more robust pork variant. One of the highlights of the meal was the coconut balls for dessert, which were nothing short of heavenly. Soft and subtly sweet, they melted in the mouth and were the perfect light, tropical finish. However, the timing did catch me by surprise, as the dessert arrived promptly after the appetizer, well before our main dishes. While unexpected, this small quirk didn’t detract much from the overall experience. To drink, I ordered the Thai tea with jelly at 50% sweetness, and it was a fantastic choice. The slightly reduced sweetness allowed the tea’s depth to shine through, complemented by the smooth, chewy jelly—a refreshing and enjoyable accompaniment to the meal. The service was attentive and friendly, rounding out a lovely experience at Serious Sanji. I’d happily rate it an 8/10 overall, with delicious flavors, a fun atmosphere, and just a touch of adventure left for my next visit to try the pork options.

We were on our way to an Admirals game one Sunday, and wanted to go somewhere for lunch before the game. I told my friend to pick a place, and pick one that was not our usual. She told me about this place, and I can't thank her enough for bringing us here. Our experience was one of the best I have had in a long time. First of all, we were seated right away, and a gentleman came to our table to help us out, and walked us through what to order, since it was my first time there. He had recommendations, and helped me choose which tea to get because apparently you can control the amount of sugar they add to it ( I chose 75% and it was perfect). I was a little skeptical if I would be satisfied with my meal because it was almost like choosing a bunch of appetizers, but man, was I stuffed when I left. We all ordered something different and just shared. We got both chicken and beef pan fried dumplings, pork bao buns, crispy chicken pieces, scallion pancakes, edamame, mini chicken and cheese sanji, and I got the mango green iced tea with mango boba. My friend got some kind of tai milk tea that she let me taste and I liked that one too. Our food came out fast, and piping hot, and the servers were all so nice and helpful. They had all the condiments, including chili oil, which made me excited to try it as I've seen a lot of food influencers use it- not as spicy as I thought it would be, which I was ok with. I live in Racine, so I'm sad it's kind of a hike to get here, but I will definitely be returning.

The place was bustling when we arrived during dinner rush hour on a Thursday night. The vibe is casual and contemporary, blending quick service with the comfort of a sit-down meal. We were instructed to scan a QR code to be placed on a waitlist and would be informed when a table was ready. The wait was about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, we took a menu pamphlet and browsed at what we wanted to order. When a table was ready, we were promptly helped and seated. We ordered the pork sanji, crabmeat & pork soup dumpling, pan-fried pork dumpling, beef noodle soup, and a taro milk tea. The beef soup had a mild flavor and the beef was slightly tougher than anticipated. However, the dumplings were exactly what we wanted. The dumpling casing was a nice firm texture, keeping everything inside and withstanding being picked up with chopsticks to be eaten, yet thin enough to nicely complement the filling when bitten into, unleashing the juices and flavors locked inside. The taro milk tea was decent and not too sweet, which I liked. Just a week ago, we had dumplings at a slightly more upscale dim sum restaurant in Chicago. We like this place more and are happy they opened up in the Milwaukee area for more food and dining variety and experiences. The price value is reasonable, food taste is good, atmosphere is casual and comfortable. Overall, we had a pleasant and positive experience.

Saturday's dinner at 6 pm. The place was packed. We were 10th in line. There was a 30-minute wait. It went by pretty fast. Ordered Mango sago. Didn't take like mango at all 4/10 Wonton with Hot chili sauce- the wonton itself was okay. Kinda on the small side. But the sauce was not Hot chili oil. It was more like a soy sauce base. Kinda disappointing 5/10 Salt and pepper wings (4 pieces) Good salt and pepper wings. It came with ketchup kinda weird. 8/10 Shanghai Soup Dumpling. This was a good Soup Dumpling. Good portion sizes. I enjoy this! Not much stuffing in this one. 8/10 Beef noodle soup This was more like a ramen bowl. Plenty of meat in this dish. The noodles were not too soft which I liked. Eggs were okay. Baby Bok Choi was cooked nicely. 7/10 Sui Mai This came out sad. The basket made the sui mai look small. The stuffing was pork and shrimp. It was kinda off to me. Missing something to it. The wrapper was on the thicker side. 4/10 Beef Sanji This was probably the best dish of the night. It came with a hot dipping sauce. The beef stuffing was good. Nothing short on this one. My favorite dish 10/10 Their Hot chili oil sucks! It looks like oil with pepper flakes. They need to go get some better Hot chili oil Prices were kinda on the expensive side. Dinner for 2 cost us almost $75

If you’re looking for a dedicated dimsum place in MKE - keep looking. Chicago is still the closest option. Ordered the sanji, soup dumplings, har gao, siu mai, and Chinese burrito. Pork Sanji: 3/5, lightly fried on bottom, meat mix was very homogenous and under seasoned. Soup dumplings: 3.5/5, not nearly enough soup!!! Did not have that satisfying pop with the first bite. Dumpling House still has the best soup dumplings. Har Gao: 3/5, you can honestly get just as good frozen ones at HmongTown/Mo’s/Mei Hua. Siu Mai: 2/5, rubbery coating, very sweet without much depth of flavor. I can guarantee you can get better frozen ones at HmongTown/Mo’s/Mei Hua Chinese Burrito: 3.5/5, the best thing we got. The kong namul (mung beans) were the star of the show, too much scallion pancake:meat ratio. I have been trying to find a place with good shrimp crepe - unfortunately they were not serving it today and we were told to come back next week. Will plan on doing so, if it’s good, repeat visits might be worth it. Overall, a bit disappointing. The service was slow, but I completely understand that efficiency is not going to be 100% within a week of opening. Unfortunately, the search continues for good dimsum in MKE.

Been here twice since it’s opened and here’s my take on the options and pricing. The soup dumplings are honestly pretty good. Our favorite is the Shanghai soup dumplings. The pork/crab soup dumplings gives off the same flavor as bun rieu, if your Vietnamese you would know. The wonton in chili oil is one of the best food options on there as well. Price is reasonable. For the noodles, the scallion noodles are so plain and kind of overpriced for the quantity but it’s decent. The Dan Dan noodles are good but also overpriced. If you add a little of the soy sauce / vinegar mix with some chili oil it adds to the flavor. In my family’s personal opinions, the sanji’s aren’t that great. They aren’t that flavorful and we’ve tried the beef and chicken. The roasted BBQ pork buns were alright nothing worth getting again. Lemon pepper wings taste good but the wings are TINY. In all, we would come back again for the Shanghai soup dumplings and wonton in chili oil 100%.
