One Strange Bird — Local services in West Chicago Township

If I could give "One Strange Bird" zero stars, I would. This place is the epitome of a rip-off. The owner fills her shop with cheap trinkets she buys in bulk from China and Amazon, then marks them up to outrageous prices. I’ve seen the same items on Temu and Shein for a fraction of the cost—literally one-quarter of what she charges.

I made the mistake of purchasing something from this so-called "boutique," and it broke almost immediately. When I tried to return it, the owner refused to exchange it or give me a refund. She clearly doesn’t stand by the junk she sells. The way she runs her business is deceitful and unethical.

You will also notice that after any negative review, within hours and days, multiple suspiciously generic positive reviews pop up. It's obvious she has friends or family writing fake reviews to cover up the truth about her store. Beware of this place and the owner. Save your money and shop somewhere that actually cares about...

BUYER BEWARE: you may not be buying well crafted or unique pieces. I had the unfortunate luck of running into this shop at a block event and purchased these earrings for $30 only to find them mass produced on AliExpress for less than $5. Smh. Truly disappointing. What was more upsetting is when I asked the shop owner where the earrings were from, I received a sketchy “idk”.

1. perhaps I expect too much but should it not be the responsibility of the shop owner to know where they are sourcing their OWN products?

2. maybe they did know and they simply decided to lie for a quick profit

3. if I were to give them the benefit of the doubt… perhaps they, such as myself, were bamboozled too.

Regardless of the reason, figured I’d give y’all a heads up. Also, not saying ALL the products this individual sells is trash but, hey, just do your due diligence because surely regret...

This shop really became one of my favorites. They have nearly everything on my wish list. From jewelry to cards for birthday gifts or any other celebration, as well as other goodies that I really enjoy having in my possession. In addition, the products they sell are of a high standard, which is one of the reasons I have always been eager to make purchases from this store whenever I have the chance to do so. When I was here the last time, I bought some jewelry and also some cards for my cousin's birthday gifts, and she loves it so much that when I gave it to her. I am overjoyed to learn that she likes and appreciates it. Definitely something to consider purchasing from this store.
