I highly recommend this tattoo shop and specifically Gadiel (Gady) Mercado for your next tattoo! The new shop is very clean and aesthetically pleasing. Erin was great and gave a warm welcome, as well as ensuring I was doing okay throughout the process and would check in if we needed anything, which I appreciated. As for Gady- this was my third tattoo from him and each one is better than the next. His attention to detail is incredible and he really listens to the client as far as what details and features they’re looking for in their tattoo and comes up with something absolutely unique and awesome. I will certainly keep coming back and look forward to working with him for years to come (or until my legs are all filled up at least haha). Also- if the sound of the tattoo gun gives you anxiety then you should know he uses a silent one and for me that really helps ease some of the nerves. I highly recommend Tattoo Art Chicago. I wanted to get a memorial tattoo of my brother, but I only had a general idea of what I wanted done. With just a loose description of what I wanted, Gady Mercado produced a piece of art that I couldn't be happier with. While I waited to get in the shop, Gady was responsive and accommodating to my emails I sent after making my initial appointment. I was nervous when I first walked into the shop, but Alma (front desk person) immediately greeted me, struck up a conversation, and put me at ease. Gady himself had a calm and cool presence to him that made getting tattooed a very relaxing experience. My tattoo was done in two sessions and there was not a moment after me initially walking in where I was anxious. I love my tattoo, and more than half of my family members (who do not have tattoos, and who prior to seeing my tattoos had a strong stigma against tattoos) have expressed interest in seeing who the artist of my tattoo is. About 20% are now considering getting a tattoo after seeing what tattoo artists like Gady and those at Tattoo Art Chicago can do. My sister and I got matching tattoos with Yulia and had a great experience. Not only do I love my tattoo, but the shop was very professional, clean, and well run.

One thing I was not expecting was that since the shop is appointment only, only the person being actively tattooed could be back in the tattoo space, the other person waited in the comfortable waiting area. Although this was a little bit disappointing as my sister and I were getting tattooed together, I found that it made the experience a lot more relaxing as the tattoo space was quiet and calm. Definitely not like your typical tattoo shop where you walk in and everything is loud and busy.
