This is a fun place to go picking. The prices are pretty reasonable, the inventory is eclectic, and there is a lot to see. For example, on my last visit, I found a blues CD that I had been looking for, a book about Samurai sword strategy, and a toy Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT.
So you might say, what the heck is an Alfetta GT? Exactly my point. If this place had a nice toy model of a fairly obscure cool car from my childhood, chances are they have something that you will like too.
There are two parking areas, a small lot by the entrance and a much larger one beyond the pass through between the buildings. Even when it has been busy there, I've never had trouble parking. There is no a/c there, so in the spring and summertime, even with the fans, it can be warm, dress accordingly. Fall and winter are quite comfortable, and it's easy to spend a long time (and a lot of money) wandering around. There are usually some discounts or specials posted, so be on the lookout.
The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They will often tell you about the available specials and whether or not the sellers are...
Read moreOnly 2 stars today due only to the insane heat in the building!! (I'll certainly return another day as the selection and variety was teasingly wonderful) The location is great-- right in close on State, off Meeting Street. Parking a great surprise. Back to first ever visit, today... The door held open should have been hint enough!!! A few fans, 18-24" diameter were scattered among the stalls, otherwise.....no ventilation, no AC. Nor was there any offer of any reason for the sauna effect! No way we could even attempt to visit the second floor! Note, today in Columbia, the actual ambient temp was, at our arrival, 102°f, adding the humidity factor.... Yu get my point. The guy was most accommodating, tho he was silent as to the stifling heat. The woman. Possibly profoundly deaf, as she totally ignored two direct verbal approaches at a distance of, maybe, 8 feet.( No. Wait, she may have been a time traveller , and simply determined not to impact our accidental encounter!)
Yeah. Looking forward to a return visit and more stars, but whether heat or not, management must...
Read moreWe were traveling on vacation and decided to stop in and checkout this antique store. We love going to antique stores and have been to several all up and down the East Coast. This store was definitely pretty big. I have to say that was nice. It was definitely a little cluttered though. (Apparently there is a mask mandate for the area according to some local people. So it was a little overwhelming with it being so packed inside and hot while wearing a mask.) The upstairs area didn't have too much, at least the back room. The bottom right we thought had a bit better of a selection, but understand this is based on the individual booth sellers. Hardly any booth had any sales going on. Which with almost every antique store we go to, almost 1/2 the store, normally more has some sort of sale going on. Whether it is 10% or even 50% off. Maybe 3 booths did.
We would maybe come back here if we were in the area again, but we would probably walk through it pretty quickly compared to the hour+ we spent in there this...
