My husband and I were traveling through SC and decided to stop by and have a look around. We had a great time and were planning on spending quite a bit, due to the reasonable prices. However thatās before the cashier stopped us and asked if I was hiding something in my sweater. The security guard called the cashier saying they caught me shoplifting on camera. My Husband is a Marine and Iām a law student, we would have no reason or desire to steal. The lady kept saying she saw me on camera and sent the āvideo evidenceā to the cashier. The video was titled ālady stolen somethingā which in itself is degrading. She played the video which clearly shows me pick up a pair of underwear, look and the fabric, and place it back into its designated spot. I pointed it out and explained what I was doing, which was shopping. She continued to accuse me of this criminal offense so I decided the best course of action was to prove my innocence. I emptied and allowed the cashier to look through my wallet, sweater pockets, jeans pockets etc. The security lady still held on to her ācertaintyā. I proceeded to take off my sweater and shake it, as well as my sweatshirt. I lifted my sweatshirt to my mid drift and proceeded to do a 360 degree turn, to assure that I havenāt hidden anything. Finally, the cashier told the lady on the phone that I had not stolen anything. The cashier apologized for the mistake but we left our items on the counter and walked out. I would like to clarify that I was not forced to empty anything, but I felt it wasnāt worth any trouble, as I had stolen nothing. The cashier was NOT at fault, but the situation was not handled in a respectful or professional manner. Itās not a coincidence that my Jewish husband and I were accused when there were many others of many heritages in the store. Absolutely deplorable and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI only had a digital copy of my ID, (which i have mixed success with using) and was denied entrance. My girlfriend (who had her ID) asked if we could just browse the store, and in reply, the clerk glared angrily at us for a solid 10-12 seconds before finally saying "Isn't that what i just said?" We did not argue, we had no attitude whatsoever, we just asked one follow-up question. I have NO issue being denied entry, that's their job. But this interaction was so far out it didn't even feel real. That level of self-righteousness and rudeness was completely unprofessional, but i'm sure everyone is treated a little differently here, so you may...
