The Jerk Hut — Restaurant in West Columbia

The atmosphere was nice and the service was great. The biggest compliant is the food. The portions are extremely small for the price. I ordered jerk pork and I was given 3 pieces for the price of $18. The side items are $5 each and for my mac & cheese and cabbage I received a small scoop of each. The cabbage was good but the mac & cheese did not have much cheese, just some shredded cheese across the top. I didn't take a pic but if you look at other pictures in the review, the sides did not fill the small section of the take out tray just to give a perspective. Definitely did not justify a separate cost of $5 each. That entire meal should have been $18 (or less). My boyfriend ordered oxtails and all of the oxtails were very small with little meat on the bone. He also said that it was very salty and he did not finish them all. The best side to get was the rice and peas. It tasted good and you received a decent portion. I know that this establishment is new so I'm hoping to see positive changes soon and I may try them again but not it's not...

Very very disappointed. I saw the advert on tik tok and decided to try since I was in Columbia. I should have went to lizard thicket. I called in a to go order to a rude person and after I explained this was my first time her attitude got better. I asked for oxtails dont know if they dont do them on monday or they were out, just stated they didn't have them. I ordered 6 lemon pepper wings, small and fried hard, i ordered a bowl which is a white Styrofoam to go box, i asked for oxtails that's when I was told they didn't have them, so I asked for jerk chicken, rice, onions and peppers. What i got was a bland, no seasoned mess, thrown in the plate. Lady that took my money didnt say thank you, come again or anything. I was so excited to see and eat my food, but so disappointed when I saw what I had. I came in and already knew what I wanted before I ordered. I asked how long is the wait before anything the slender tall young lady stated not long at all we not even busy. So I said about 15-20 minutes? She said before then. I waited and waited 37 minutes went by. That’s fine my food was fresh then she stated open to make sure you got what you asked for. Maaaaaan I had a plate full of noodles and 4 thin and small oxtails 😒 highly disappointed for the time transparency, food portion, wait time, and flavor was bland on the Rasta Pasta and the Jerk wings was amazing.
