If you’re considering coming here for the LVN course, don’t. Just DONT. To start off, coming to this school was a big mistake. From the outside, the school looks clean, organized, etc. However, once you’re signed up, everything changes and you see the reality. When you ask for information regarding this place, you’re met with almost daily calls, texts, etc. Its borderline harassment with how often they reach out. Once you’re signed up? You won’t get one single update on anything, the communication dies once you sign up. Read the reviews of other students, communication and organization is terrible at this place. Another thing that’s terrible at this school is the stuff they provide. The LVN program is around 40k. For 40k the school provides so little, where is the money going to? No idea, it certainly isn’t on the students. The students get 3 pair of scrubs, yet the scrubs are such poor quality. The scrub sizes are inconsistent and if they don’t fit well. You’re expected to get them tailored. If anyone pays 40k for a program the least that the school can provide is better scrubs or already tailored scrubs. This school also doesn’t provide physical books, they are all digital. Don’t expect to own the books though. You pay a fee for the books yet the books are only accessible for around 2-3 years. Think about that, you pay 40K for a school, you’re given poor quality scrubs, expected to get them tailored, and books? For 40k you’re not even allowed to keep the books, they are essentially rented. That’s why I ask, where is the money going to? Not the students, nor for quality staff. We had several different instructors for the program. For my cohort it was around 11 overall for skills and theory, out of those 11, 4 were great, the rest? They are so disorganized they can’t even stay on the same page with their fellow instructors. Most instructors are not suitable to be teachers. They are not able to teach well, and good luck if you try to voice any concerns. The instructors will essentially argue with the students, get on a high horse, and say its our way or the highway. Getting help with the instructors or anything else is basically nonexistent. Students will voice their concern, speak to higher ups, etc. What happened after? Nothing, because this school just cares about getting students money, not for the students themselves. Another big Issue with north west is their big lack of being consistent with other north west campuses. For example, at the West Covina location, you take a final HESI and expected to get a score of 900 to be allowed to graduate. However, at another North West location, the HESI score required is lower. How the hell is it that they are essentially the same school but have different requirements?? The director of nursing sets the “standards and policy.”How can different nursing directors set different policies and why isn’t there a universal policy and standard for all the campuses? This school tries so hard to be seen as a competitive, prestigious school. The reality is this school just prays on students who want to better themselves, get a career, and they promise them a good School, a good school progress, etc. The truth is this school looks great on the outside, on the inside you realize its garbage but its hard to leave because once you sign the contract they make it hard to leave. Don’t be fooled by the 5 star reviews. The school ask students for a good reviews and some instructors even provide extra credit for a review. Notice how many of the 5 star reviews only have one review and its for the school. Its no coincidence. Don’t come here just because its close by, it looks nice, etc. For 40k you can get a better education anywhere else. Literally anywhere else with that much money. Don’t be fooled by a school that has to advertise themselves on bus stop signs. They know who their target demographic is, those who just want to better themselves. DO NOT go into debt for a school that gives so little to its students, is disorganized beyond belief, has different standards for different...
Read moreIf you are thinking of coming here for its LVN course, please reconsider. I was a student here a year ago and I would never recommend this school to anyone. Go somewhere else, even if its further, this school is not worth your time, especially with how bad the instructors are and how disorganized this whole place is. Before I signed up for this school, I was getting calls, texts, anything they can do to try and convince you to come here. Yet once you sign up, don't expect to hear back from anyone about anything. Communication is basically nonexistent once you signed up. You get told that this school is affordable, that is one of many lies. It's around 40k overall . They will even ask you to borrow money from a family member if you mention that the number is high, this happened to me. During the course, the clinical instructors were a mess. A big mess. Half the time we didn't do any hands on practice, we would watch one video, demonstrate what we saw on the video, and all of a sudden they said you know the skill, moving on, That's how clinical instructions worked, sitting down and watching film instead of the instructor actually showing us how its done. For theory, I had a great instructor. She was the best part of this school. Yet what does this school do? Decide it's best to remove the great instructor after one term and send her somewhere else. We were stuck with 2 other instructors who were just terrible. That's what this school does. It says this is your instructor for the rest of the school year than all of a sudden "so here's your new instructor." This happened twice to my class. We voiced our concerns but that didn't go anywhere. To give yet another example of how bad this school is, I waited 4 weeks to get one book that was needed for clinical class. 4 weeks. I kept getting told its coming, its coming, yet it took 4 weeks. When the book arrived? It was NOT a book that I expected. It was a self printed book with blurry words. The school essentially printed out these books themselves and made them as flimsy and as cheap as possible because that's what this school does, tries to get as much money from you while giving you the bare minimum for stuff. When it comes down to clinical sites? That's another big mess. When did we get notifications about the clinical sites and hours? Sometimes a day or two before they started. Once again, the best thing about this school was one instructor that was really great. Yet this school will remove them just to give you a very dull instructor. The theory part is all virtual, so having a dull instructor is a huge pain. Speaking of virtual, you will pay around 300 dollars for books. Don't expect physical books, it's all digital. You pay so much for this school yet you're being given so little. When the students spoke up about lack of communication from the office, disorganized learning, having multiple instructors which two out of three were bad, we were just ignored. They said they will do something about it but nothing was ever done. This program and school is a money grab location. They make it seem great, they say this and that, yet once you're in its a different story. Just to highlight on this school and how bad it is. We were given a paper that the school has to provide that states " in 2022 only 51% of students graduated on time. In 2023 only 39% of people graduated on time." When you go to the school to get information, they brag about their nclex passing rates. Yet Nclex and graduation rates are VERY different. When I brought this up to someone at the office, they essentially blamed the students. Yet when only HALF of the class isn't graduating one year and LESS THAN 40% aren't graduating, how can they blame the students and not look at themselves and realize their system is flawed. This happened with my cohort, many didn't make it till the end. We started strong because the great first instructor, yet once they removed her and put someone else, students suffered. This post was lengthy but I can't say it enough, go somewhere else. Don't be fooled by the...
Read moreThe first person I spoke with- the opperator was quite blunt and short and didn't ask if I could be put on hold when I first asked my question but just said, "hang on" and transferred me. I just phoned the college to see if I could get some dental work done, inquiring if there was a free or discounted program they had to help train their students. They first tried to recruit me and sent me to admissions. They had never heard of anyone coming in for dental work at the school. I spoke with Sylvia. I told her I had a friend who has a friend in Kansas who practices with the public and they are always looking for people to work on. So this school was the first I picked on the list from google. Sylvia said she had never heard of that before. We hung up.
I called back because I found the very next school on the list who had a program like the above described. And I wondered how they got their experience if they didn't practice on real people.
I phone back, couldn't remember the woman's name that I was speaking with and the first person I spoke with kept trying to get my information, first and last name and phone number etc. I asked why and she said she was just trying to get information because I didn't know who I was speaking with. She told me, 'hang on' put me on hold and then transferred me back to Sylvia.
Sylvia answered and I told her it was me, we had just spoken and I had a question, I wondered how the students got their experience. She told me they interned in the field. I am auditory so sometimes I have to repeat and clarify, so I asked, "oh in internships in the field, so they don't have anyone on campus?" and she said, "I don't know what type of program you are looking for, Moriya, but we don't do....." I was so frustrated with her attitude and shortness with me that she didn't understand my questions that I hung up on her. Not the kindest thing to do, I know, but I was just done. I called the other school and they said they had a 2-3 month wait and were 20-30% cheaper than typical dentists and all she could tell me for cost is that the initial visit (Xrays etc) starts at 21. I knew I wasn't crazy. As far as attending this school, I'm graduating from a 4 year degree college in December and don't need to do their program, however how they treated me regarding my inquiry I would keep looking for other schools. Customer service on the phone is one of the first ways that someone gets a feel of how they would be treated as they are a student at your school. Character is how you treat someone who can do nothing for you. I hope this can improve and your recruitment and front office department can improve their customer service with the community. Also, I would suggest a clinic, it could be beneficial and cost effective to your...
