I had the pleasure of visiting New Leaf Wellness in West Des Moines earlier this year, and this facility is a MUST go-to for anyone who wants real healthcare. The staff are very friendly, knowledgable, and you can tell they actually love what they do. They'll take the time to actually listen to any questions or health issues you want to address, and you can tell they have a real passion for their area of expertise. The staff are very professional and educated, but that won't stop them from having fun while helping you. This should be on Iowa's TOP Rated Healthcare facilities. If you're considering addressing a health issue, and actually want to get to the bottom of what may be causing it, I highly advise you give them a call and book an appointment.

I looked at the reviews before coming to New Leaf Wellness and decided to ignore the low ones and give it a shot because it was recommended by a friend. Unfortunately, they were pretty accurate. I came in for a new person consultation and was barely greeted. After filling out my paperwork and seeing everyone that came in before AND after me get seen, I was able to see someone about 20 minutes after my initial appointment time.

Without even giving me an introduction to their services, the first question out of the consultant Angela's mouth was asking me to sign up/purchase vitamin c injections. This should have been a red flag that she is more of a salesperson than a consultant, but I still gave her a chance. I had several questions which she could not answer or worse yet, I found her contradicting herself and misinforming me about their products (or even what was available). She even tried to get me to purchase something which they didn't even have at the time. Too boot, Angela was constantly saying that she never gets sick all while blowing her nose and sounding stuffy. Mmmm.... ok..... Not a good sales pitch.

I was finally able to speak to a nurse, Lori who could answer my questions. It was with her that I found out that I could only get the vitamin C only IV (not the vitamin cocktail I had talked about with Angela) because I didn't have labs run. Lori was extremely nice, patience, and knew what she was talking about. For that, I had a little bit more faith in what they were trying to accomplish at this facility. She helped calm me down from the disappointment and discouraging conversation I had just had with Angela. Lori even gave me more information because she said that I ask more questions than other patients that come in here so she was happy to sit down with me and answer the questions that Angela couldn't.

Unfortunately though, it is hard for me to want to put my health in the hands of people that can't explain their products, what's in them, and how they work. If you are someone that simply knows they want the Myers Cocktail, Vitamin C IV, or something else they provide and need a facility to provide it, New Leaf Wellness is fine. They can provide this treatment, although I would probably price shop just to make sure there aren't other facilities providing the same thing at a lower cost.

If you're like me though and you want to be an informed patient about your health and well being, I suggest you keep looking. This place is a spa, not a wellness facility. There are nurses there, but it doesn't seem like there are any other trained professionals that can give you more information on treatments and if something can help you specifically. It's more of an "up to you" type of place. I would question if the products are worth the cost because I'm not even sure that I got what I paid for. It could have been a straight saline solution for all I know and nothing more. I'll be checking out other places that can offer similar services in the future should I venture to...

Similar to others here, I feel the need to share my experience with NLW so others can make an informed decision about whether or not they would like to go here. I first visited this office back in June 2023 when I was in the process of trying to establish why I hadn’t been feeling as good as I once did. When I went in for my initial consult, the woman that I met with, Megan, was so nice and bubbly. In hindsight, I know that I was being sold something. At the time, I took this as being helpful. When I sat in the office with her so that she may assess whether I was the “right fit” for their product, literally EVERY symptom I said I was having she met with an enthusiastic “Yep! That’s hormones! We can fix that!” And obviously by the end of the appointment we decided I was the right fit and I had my blood work done to which they said that my hormones were totally out of whack (my normal doctor said that his testing showed nothing of the sort and my obgyn later explained this could have had something to do with the timing of my cycle) and I wanted so desperately to see if there was help for me, so I paid the 180.00 that I would be paying per month and I started. After that initial payment, I could never receive an email back from Megan if I reached out. They say that they will contact you to do ongoing testing to make sure the hormones are still working for you, that happened once for me and they never checked in again over the course of 7 months but without question or hesitation they still took the monthly payment and sent me with the hormones. I started realizing that I wasn’t really feeling any better. I felt like there was an initial placebo effect but overtime, I felt exactly the same. For that reason I ultimately decided to stop taking the hormones. Following that decision I have reached out several times for detailed receipts. I have been told that they would be made up and sent to me. They had initially sent basically a transaction history showing a payment made but nothing that could be accepted by insurance so I reached back out and asked for something more detailed. But ultimately it seems that this request is also being ignored. What I will say is that at the end of this I feel as though I fell for a scam. They were very excited to get me in the door and get me to sign up for these “life changing hormones” but once I signed on the dotted line, they could not have cared less about helping or checking in or even being bothered to respond. One thing I should have gone with my gut about was during my first visit, I was in the waiting room for quite some time and the girls at the front desk seemed to be very candid about their annoyance with certain customers or with answering the phone. I should have known then, that this wasn’t a place that truly cared about the well being of customers, but rather selling something to people who are desperate for answers. Definitely do as much research as you can before agreeing to...

In August of 2021 my husband and I had a consult and decided to do food sensitivity testing and I would do hormone therapy. We had blood drawn and went on our way. A week or so later we were notified our blood samples had been lost. So Newleaf sent us at home blood kits. So frustrating and annoying since we paid so much money. Had a follow up appointment a few weeks later and it was a horrible experience. Showed up at 12:45 for my 1:00 appointment and was told my appointment was at 1:30. I had my card as proof my appointment was at 1, but someone else had been scheduled so I would have to wait. At nearly 2:00 I finally saw the doctor. And I do not understand how the man even has a job. He seemed confused and he constantly stuttered and repeated himself. The nurse who sat in on my appointment knew more than he did. About 10 minutes later I was told they needed more blood and I was sent up front to pay several hundred dollars for the hormone therapy and this was after my husband and I had already given them a few thousand at the initial consultation. The clerk was confused about what vitamins/meds the doctor had prescribed because they couldnt find my paperwork. The doctor hadn't sent it up front. The nurse doing the hormone procedure was knowledgeable and very pleasant. I asked when I would talk to someone about my food sensitivity test and was told that they didn't do that. I would be contacted by email to set up a meeting with someone in Florida. I was told that I would see someone in person for a 30 min. appointment. I believe it was the girl in the lab who told me this. I was very disappointed and upset at this point. I went up front to wait to have my blood drawn. Only no one knew I was supposed to have my blood drawn because the doctor didn't tell anyone. So another 10 to 15 minutes later my blood was drawn and I was sent to the pharmacy. I was there for nearly 3 hours. It was the worst experience I've ever had at a doctor. I can't believe I paid actual money to these people. The hormone therapy did nothing for me and I canceled all future appointments. And here I am 8 months later and I am getting statements from my insurance company because they want more money! If you are thinking about...
