I am a regular at this bar and come here often. I usually love this place and love the things they have and serve. But tonight was a complete 180 for me. I met the owner. He was very drunk and did not know what personal space was!
I feel my family and friends were specially targeted by this man. I don’t want to be that person to bring race up but we were the only Asians in there and he did not leave us alone all night. We were having a great night until he randomly just came and sat at our table in silence and stared at us. We said hey hi are you ok? Just trying to talk to him and greet him as anyone would. But he just was drinking his beer and staring at us and trying to take our drinks and cups away. We said no these are not done yet. He sat with us for a good 10-15 minutes just staring at us, and we felt very uncomfortable cause he did not say anything so we gradually one by one switched tables. At the time he was sitting at our table, he was trying to rub up one of my friends backs and she just said stop and ran away instantly. Additionally, the bartender came and sat at our table to check on us cause she was also confused to why that “owner” guy was sitting here snd she was asking if we were ok cause she knew he was off also and she was trying to get him to leave our table. She checked up on us often and we appreciate her for it.
After we were trying to move tables, he went up to another friend of mine and just stood inches away from her staring at her and asking her if “she’s ok” but was weirdly asking making her feel extremely uncomfortable she “SOS” texted us and she ran to the bartender to tell her what he was saying and doing making her feel uncomfortable and guarded.
We decided to play pool instead to get away from him, and he came over AGAIN!! he doesn’t just stand close and around us, he literally stands inches next to or behind us we can feel him breathing on us. I said do you need something? He just shook his head walked away.
Then when bar was closing, we were waiting for our friends to finish using the restroom, so we played a claw machine and ONCE AGAIN he comes up standing RIGHT BEHIND my friends breathing down her neck not saying a word. So I said “you are standing right behind my friend, we need personal space” and he literally looked at me and waved his hands like “no im not” and I said “yes you are my friends are now moving away cause of you” so he just waived his hands some more and crossed his hands and doesn’t say a word and moved to stand right next to ME doing the same thing he’s been doing all night so my friends and I all rushed out.
BUT I came back seconds later to talk to the workers which was a gentleman and I said who is that guy and what’s his problem? He said I’m so sorry we been trying to get him to leave he’s very drunk and he’s the owner and it’s under new management. Like what the heck!! I don’t care if he’s the owner or the president he shouldn’t be harassing us all night.
after tonight, I do not recommend this place at all because if he’s doing this to customers, and targeting us, what else is he doing and I hope he treats his employees better cause they have been great and trying to help us all night but this guy “owner” thinks he can just walk all over the place and breathe down our necks whenever he wants? That’s not right and I wished we would have done more about it but we really just wanted to get out of there by the end...

I recently ordered Westtown Tap’s new breakfast burrito for pickup. The description sounded great... steak, eggs, onions, peppers, hash browns inside, with queso and tater tots on the side. I ordered it with no peppers or onions. When I got my order, it still had onions and peppers, and the “hash browns” inside were missing. Instead, there were just round hash brown-style tots on the outside, which should have been the side item.
I asked for a remake, and while waiting, I noticed the kitchen seemed to be using eggs and tots that were already sitting out instead of cooking fresh. When the remake came out, it wasn’t even hot, the cheese wasn’t melted, and the tortilla was already torn down the middle. Which proved my point... they used the already prepared, sitting out for a while ingredients that I already advised the bartender not to use. Along with the tortilla seems to be a tomato tortilla and they forgot to include the queso also.
For a newly introduced menu item from a newer establishment, I expected better attention to detail and quality. The lack of pride in their food really shows. It seems like I've seen the same cook at this establishment since the previous business "Keg Stand". If that is the case, then the lack of quality in food makes sense.
The worst part was there was no effort to make up for the mistake... no discount, no real apology. Paying full price for something poorly prepared, no flavor, and twice messed up was frustrating.
Overall: The concept sounds good, but execution and service really missed the mark. Don't think there's any reason for me to go back. Can you really expect quality when the bartender or whoever rang up my food on the phone, can't even answer the phone with saying the establishment? Just "Hello"... it's like she's even embarrassed to work there. I asked "why don't you say your establishment when you answer the phone?"
"Well, it's kind of busy here and it's loud".
Does that mean the person on the other side of the phone...
Read moreThis is the bar where the American Outlaws of Des Moines watch US soccer games. We have been to watch a few games in the past, with fine service and atmosphere but tonight was unbelievably horrible. There was a very popular game on so the place was busy. It shouldn't have been packed, but it was because they did not have an adequate setup. There were not nearly enough chairs in the backroom where games are typically watched and they had sat people down toe at at a large table back there right before the game started. We stood and watched for almost 40 minutes before a table opened up to sit down in the main restaurant area. Once there we waited another 20 minutes for a waitress to show up before we finally flagged one down. She gave us food menus and never came back. So we flagged her down eventually. Then, after ordering our food and I asked for a plain iced tea, she asked for our IDs. I (stupidly) hadn't brought mine in. I have an injury and have been using pain meds so knew I wouldn't be drinking. She was very rude and short with us while she explained that they were currently 21+ only, although there were no signs posted anywhere nor anyone at the door asking for ID. She asked us to leave while my husband quickly tried to finish the beer he had gotten from the bar during our wait (oh and he hadn't been asked for ID at the bar) then glared at us on our way out the door. So if we hadn't ordered food we would have never been IDed. It was an absolutely ridiculous concept and this bar just isn't worth the crappy food...
