First of all, I write this review in this context: I've shopped at Jos A. Bank over the last 20-25 years on an infrequent basis but enough to say I'm a customer. I've also shopped at multiple locations in multiple cities as well.
In addition, while I haven't read into the 1-Star reviews, in a thorough way, I'm surprised there are so many of them with this specific store. In fact, I get that people have bad days, but the managers of the store, Raegan & Maxwell, are extremely professional and attentive to the needs of the customer, so there's the rub for me and the other folks I've interacted with are most courteous.
I am also quite a particular & demanding customer, for which this hasn't been an issue with this store, and for that, I write this review out of loyalty & gratitude.
Raegan, a Manager, and Maxwell, her counterpart and also a Manager, in the multiple interactions I've had with them, were always on-point and intuitively understand what I need, especially given that I am always visit in a rush and with "my hair on fire." They always calmly listened to my needs and tried to assist with whatever my goal is for that occasion's store visit.
On the last visit, I was in need of a "performance-style" dress pant because I was tired of trying to go the cheap route (through Costco or other vendors) to get something that could be dressed up or down. She knew exactly what I was looking for, suggested their Traveler Performance slack, which was true to form and exactly what I needed. The paints are durable, have a beautiful sheen to them, could be worn with a button down & with or without a jacket, have an expandable waist (not old people talk here; just saying bc my weight fluctuates with intermittent fasting).
The end result was a store visit of less than 15 minutes, receiving exactly what I desired because they had a clothing solution to match, and to top it off, I also had enough left on my gift card to take home a nice tie.
Thank you, Raegan & Maxwell. Thank you, Jos A. Bank, West Hartford. Keep up the great, attentive, hard work, and don't let the naysayers get you down. I appreciate your store and your service.
Therefore, I highly recommend this Jos. A. Bank, and should you ever have a problem with your service, Raegan & Maxwell, Managers, would be happy to solve your issue & concern.
Great work...
Read moreYou would think that a suit store in the heart of a high volume area of West Hartford would have exceptional value, customer service, and quality assurance, but this couldn't be farther from the truth. As a groom getting custom suits for a bridal party, our group numbers have changed twice, the notes in their system are conflicting, we were not properly fitted for shirts or vests, and have had to come back to the store multiple times to repeat information over and over again. The shirt we decided on doesn't come in the right size for my thinnest groomsman, and the vest we decided on doesn't come in the right size for my largest groomsman. We found this out ONLY after everything was ordered. The manager guided me to go with the 1905 vests only to tell me at the next visit that they "sold out." It's just an incredible amount of negligence. Alteration prices are outrageous, it's almost like they try to pigeon-hole you into an expensive alteration. They give you discounts on suits and the gouge on the alterations. If the clothing was measured and fitted properly before ordering, then the clothing should not need MAJOR alterations. As stated in a prior review below, go somewhere else for alterations and tailoring. Bridal parties, please please stay away from Joseph A Bank in West Hartford and Glastonbury. The staffing hours are slim, they often are juggling between customers. There is a lot of fault to be placed on their internal system as well. It's not intuitive. JAB has been in financial trouble in the past, and you can tell they are just barely surviving. Invest in your technology, provide better training and hire staff with better customer service skills. They should be ashamed of themselves. All of this is sad because the actual suits themselves are really nice and appear to be...
Read moreThe lady who “helped” me was extremely short with me and rude. I made eye contact with her as I walked in and she went to the back. I then stood around waiting for help until finally a person helping another guy asked if I’ve been helped yet. I say no and he gets the lady who then reluctantly takes me on as a customer. I already had the pants in hand that I needed and just needed them to be measured for tailoring…very simple. The entire time she was extremely short with me and even when I asked if I can go get my suit coat from my car to make sure the blacks match she tells me that I can’t take the pants out of the store in a very odd tone (like I don’t already know that) I was going to give the pants to my wife to hold who was standing right beside her but I gave it to her since she was so direct about it. I go make sure the black coat and pants match and proceed to buy the pants that I needed. She then checks us out and doesn’t say anything after I pay and say “Thank you”. Just a very unpleasant experience with a very awkward assistant. I don’t want to assume things but I am a younger black man, so it’s possible that had something to do with it. Whether she has some type of bias or is just extremely awkward, that associate has no business working in customer service and made my experience here very negative. It will be the last time I’d ever step foot in this store if it’s not a...
