This place is a second run theater, meaning they screen films that have already released on home media, or are about to release on home media. This allows them to skip paying a fee to the studios and merely pay a public exhibition fee. What does that mean? It means that movies here are really, really cheap. Around $2.50. Concessions are also very inexpensive. A popcorn and drink combo, I beleive is $6. I could be wrong, but I know it's about a third the cost of a traditional theater. Also, free drink and popcorn refills!
The place is fairly clean, but you can definitely tell the theater hasn't been updated to modern high-end Theater standards. How dirty it is depends on when you go amd how many people are staffed. This is not a Regal or AMC or Penn Cinema. The seats and everything about this place actually, are straight out of the 90's. In fact, my parents used to take me here when it was a new release theater in the 90's. They definitely made a couple updates and remodeled just a bit, but I can say for sure that this strictly a bare-bones affair. Leg room was average to very good depending on location and theater.
The seats aren't luxurious, but they are comfortable enough (by that I mean that they technically are seats. These are basically plastic bucket seats upholstered in thin foam and thin red fabric). The theaters are usually clean, but look a bit old and drab. The hallways are lined with current and old movie posters, which is fun. There are too many screens, either. And there are three different sizes for the theaters, the three sizes having screens and speakers of different sizes as well. Projection quality is okay. It's definitely a 1080p image, but some of the screens have seen better days, as have some of the projectors which may have a dead pixel or two. It also uses much older projectors that aren't as bright and don't really support 3d that well. They don't show many movies in 3d, and if they have one playing, I would pass on it. The 3d here is 50% as bright because if the outdated projector. Screen size is below average. This was a small theater from the 90s, so picture that and you got it.
The staff is friendly, but often, much like the theater, bare bones. The last three times I went, there were two employees in the whole building. One running tickets and concessions, and the other cleaning up theaters, sarting/ending showings, and helping at the concessions. Definitely a hardworking crew, though!
This isn't a theater to go to because you want to be surrounded by the most luxurious experience. Look elsewhere for that. The best thing to compare this to would be a wooden roller coaster. It's about the experience and the value. If you're looking to take the kids somewhere for the day, you can spend all day here for less than $30. It's also a great place for a date. Not a first date, though. A date with someone you know well.
The atmosphere and value are the bottom line of this place, and I recommend you at least try this place at least once....
Read moreTerrible customer service! My daughter her friends and I had a really bad experience at this place because of Terry "the manager" She was very rude to the kids and I. The kids tried to buy tickets to watch a movie and she told them they couldn't because "the machine was broken" They asked to buy tickets for a different movie and she didn't allow them because they were going to bother other people if they go in. So since they were NOT ALLOWED by this person to buy tickets they stayed sitting on the front benches waiting for their parents to pick them up and she said they couldn't stay there either. Supposedly they don't allow people to sit there either. When I got there to pick up my daughter she said we have to leave. I asked her what happened that they were not allowed and she said the machine was broken and she doesn't have to give me any explanation. I asked for a manager and for my surprise it was her. I told her what a bad experience for the kids the way she treated them and that her customer service was terrible. I asked her name and she didnt wanted to give me her name and she threatened me to call 911 on me because they were closing and she doesn't have to answer my questions and I was never welcome again and she was going to make sure to talk to the owner (which I am wondering who's this person because he should hire people who care about his business)to make sure we were never welcome at this place. She denied them tickets yet, she sold tickets to other people. I was never treated so wrong in my life. I don't think this is a way to make business and it was a horrible experience for the kids to be treated like that by a person that doesn't have the ability to work with people and have 0% customer service. If I could give this 0...
Read moreI would love to give this place 4, or even 5 stars. The only thing that prevents me from doing so is the fact that they enforce the R-rated movie policy VERY STRICTLY. If you are under 17, or do not possess suficcient ID, your parent/guardian MUST buy their own ticket physically ACCOMPANY you into the theater. My friend and I (both 17) ran into this problem when we made plans to see an R-rated movie. I had my ID, but he forgot his. However, Despite his father coming in with him to buy a ticket, and even showing HIS own ID, the cashier did not allow them to purchase the ticket because my friends father was not going to “accompany” him into the theater. When trying to Reason with the guy, he stated that it was company policy, and that other “bigger” theaters like Regal and AMC do not require parent accompaniment because they are able to front the “billions of dollars” in fees required to bypass these “laws”. Pretty lame excuse, as there are no actual “laws” that require movie theaters to put any restrictions on R-rated movies. Even though the staff was very polite about it, this whole ordeal just made for uneccesary annoyance, stress, and disappointment in what was supposed to be a fun day. If there is one thing I would suggest to the management, It would be to display this policy more clearly or get your minds out of the 1950s and change it.
Other than that, his movie theater is a great little spot. Phenomenal prices on tickets and concessions, which you can’t find anywhere these days. Theater is a little dated, but still clean and comfortable. Staff is always friendly and cordial. Hit movies like you would find in a “regular“ movie theater, just a month or two after normal release. All in all, it’s a great place to spend...
