World HeARTs Fair Trade — Local services in West Linn

Sometimes you go into a place and just feel like a pair of arms is wrapping around you saying "come on in, browse, and stay a while". That's the feeling I got when I stepped into World HeARTS Fair Trade. Robin, was simply incredible as she showed me around and explained the story behind the different items and various countries they came from. She explained how those local communities are supported by my purchase.

As a Haitian born in America, I was particularly pleased to see the art pieces from Haiti. I purchased a pair of very unique earrings for my wife. They were made from a nut. That's nuts right! (Umm sorry about that.)

In any case, my wife loved the earrings, and we'll be visiting the store together again soon. If you're anywhere in the Portland area, this gem of a store is worth the drive to...

We visited the store today, and found it a real delight. Kurt was so insightful sharing stories of origin of products, and shared some very personal connections to individuals that are producing some incredible products, in some of the worlds poorest areas. We purchased a couple of items, and would have liked to have bought more, for the support...next time!

We would most definitely recommend visiting the store, and supporting a truly fair trade organization. Check out the clothing out of recycled plastic. You would not believe such a thing exists, and shame on the west for not doing more recycling.. it felt more like cashmere wool, honest!! We left...

We went for a hike in Oregon City and decided to stop for coffee in Oregon City. On our way to coffee, we parked right next to this gem of a store. Beautiful handmade items from other countries. The gentleman working there on Saturday gave us background on the products and what country they came from and how some products were made using recycled products. Prices were reasonable. If you purchased some like items at big box stores the prices would have been more expensive and the only country those products are made is China. Do yourself a favor and check out this store for great one-of-a-kind gifts and you are doing a good thing by supporting...
