I called Dick's sporting goods regarding my interest in purchasing a .22 Cal Ruger rifle, which they indicted they had in stock. I drove there (45 miles one way) and went through the usual process, of filling out paper work as it is the case when one is buying a gun. (Background check Etc). That took a while, but nonetheless the salesman "Tom" indicated to me that "the system was down" and the voice message he received suggested that he should "try again later". It was approx 3:15pm. & the store is open till 9:00pm. I should also point out that there were no waiting customers, looking for assistance. Tom then suggested that I should return the next day or better yet in a couple of days because when he gets those messages, the system is down for two to three days, (he "based that on his five years experience of selling firearms".) I noticed at this time that a man in white shirt was standing nearby observing all of this and I asked him if he was a manager. He acknowledged that he was & his name tag identified him as Josh. I informed both of them that I lived 45 miles away which would be a total of 180 miles driving time, in order for me to get this rifle. After I insisted, Tom made a second attempt to get through and immediately hung up, again claiming the system was down. I asked how long are they (the system) available for and he replied "till 1:00". I told him that I'll wait around the store until he gets through, to which Tom replied that he was not going to try again. I asked "The manager" if he was satisfied with the way his worker was handling this sale, to which he replied that the system was down and there was nothing he could do either. Tom then piped in suggesting that I "can come back in a couple of days, or cancel the sale and go elsewhere because there were plenty of gun shops around". I informed (the Manager ?) Josh that he should expect "a good review" from me and that I'll call his supervisor to report this incident which he clearly chose to stay out of instead of managing it. He actually informed me that when it comes to guns the corporation will stand behind him a hundred percent and he has no worries. I believe that Josh has trouble seeing that this was not a gun matter, but a matter of his employee failing to do what he was getting paid to do, which is sales. And to top it off, this was taking place under his managerial watchful eye, which tells me a lot about the quality of service at Springfield's Dick's sporting goods, in general. I have spent many thousands of dollars over the years at this store and I'm sorry to see that we have parted ways in this fashion. I feel betrayed and as if I was taken advantage of for being a loyal customer, all these years. Tom and Josh good luck to you with your sales gentlemen, which will not surprise me to hear if they are not all that high. Both of your actions today were nothing but a hindrance to the second amendment and to my desire to continue to be a Dick's sporting goods customer. My recommendation to you is to stick to selling fishing gear, because at least today, neither of you were earning your keeps in the firearms den. You are getting a one star review only because there are no lesser options and the man who assisted me before Tom, was very helpful and well to be mentioned, yet unfortunately he had to leave for the end of his shift. He did deserved 5 stars plus, and I apologize to him for the way this turned up after he left. I'd like to make it clear that I have been in other Dick's stores and their service was usually far better than having to deal with the Tom & Josh duo, which in my opinion need a wake up call,...
Read moreWent to get some new shoes.... not the best setup in the world 7 other people doing the same thing and only 2 sales associates working the department. Not a problem in most places but the only thing you have to go off of is the display everything is kept in the back (if this is done to limit theft I can somewhat understand) but that really comes down to lack of staff and properly being trained on theft prevention. Being I'm on the large side I needed extra wide in a 13 after waiting 25 minutes for help I asked the salesperson what was instock in my size he told me that he wasn't sure and I'd have to find one tagged that wide were available and then go back to him and wait again to finish with the current customer he'd then be helping before he could look so see if what I was looking for was in stock. Not the best setup at all I'll I can say is next time I need shoes if they are purchased from Dicks it will be from...

We drive to the store to pick it up and it is sitting in a box not ready and not assembled. A guy tells me to come back tomorrow, I show up next day one of the floor guys( he seemed annoyed that I have asked them to help me) shows me the bike in the box not assemble again. Store manager Dylan comes over and tells me to come back tomorrow again this will be the third time. Update, called them back, next day managers John said bike is not ready.
