Had lunch here, I got a Southwest grilled chicken salad and my friend got the crispy chicken sandwich. The food came quickly which was nice but unfortunately the fries that came with the sandwich were barely warm, like they had been sitting a while before they served them to us. Not sure how that could be since we received the food pretty quickly so they were definitely NOT made fresh for our order which is disappointing.
The salad had red onions on it that were soft and not crisp, WAY past their prime, they should never have been put on the salad. I love onions on my salad so that was a disappointment. I had one soft wilted looking onion slice and the flavor was fine but the texture was hard to get over so I tossed the rest of them. The grilled chicken was completely cold so also not made to order. It probably comes frozen and premade with grill marks on it and they just thaw it and put it on the salad which is super lame and which is why I’m giving only a 3 star review. The portions were big which was nice because I only ate about half my salad and took the rest to go. My friend said his sandwich was great and very filling but it was a shame the fries were barely warm. He asked for a side of blue cheese and they gave a big amount. So no issues with the portions but the quality was not great. I liked that they had pepper and salt grinders on the table, I liked both freshly ground on my food so that was great.
The waitress was nice but she initially only brought us 2 napkins, not sure if that is some policy of theirs but it looks like they are being pretty cheap. The sandwich had a ton of sauce on it and it was dripping out all over so pretty messy and would take at least 2 napkins for that so we had to ask for more and she brought us a few more which was nice, but we really shouldn’t have had to ask, I mean come on.
Not super expensive but also not super impressive. I would definitely come back and maybe try the tacos next time but if the next time the food is also sub par that may be my last time...
Read moreWe have given a few different locations a try and been disappointed by them all. In May we called in an order to the Springfield Plaza location, got there and were told it wasn't finished yet. We waited 30 minutes before someone came back and told us they didn't actually have our order. They tried telling us we must have called the wrong location even after we proved which number was used with the phone. They made the order and the manager was apologetic, but at this point it had been an hr and a half after we placed the order that was supposed to be my step daughter's birthday dinner. Guests ended up having to leave without eating. We filed a corporate complaint and there was no follow up. The other night we finally decide to give them another shot, because the food is delicious. We went to the West Springfield location and when the hostess entered my phone number for the waiting list she didn't enter it correctly or read it back. She told us it was a 20 minute wait so after 30 minutes we went to check in. In this time we were waiting outside the front door. Well within view of the hostess. Noone came out to say anything. When we went in she apologized for the computer being awful and seated us. We asked to speak to the manager and explained what happened. He said it's an ongoing issue and offered us an appetizer, which was appreciated since our entrees were wrong. We'd asked for no tomato and there were tomato seeds all over the lettuce, bun, and on the french fries. Clearly the kitchen forgot and just removed the tomato. My steak tips were way over cooked. We did say something but the manager never came back over. We've decided we won't be hitting 99 up again for a while. The customer service has definitely gone...
Read more99 Restaurant and Pub is an eatery that has something for everyone, offering a wide variety of meals, including seafood, chicken, beef and pasta fares, plus a lot more. The establishment also supports the local high school athletic programs, with pictures of the teams and cheerleading squad.
We arrived on a Tuesday evening shortly before 6:30. The place was moderately filled, and we were greeted and seated immediately. Kelsey, our pleasant server, attended to our needs while training a new hire.
For an appetizer, we selected the Boneless Wings & Skins Sampler, which consisted of hand-breaded boneless wings covered in Gold Fever (a mix of honey mustard and honey barbecue sauces) and potato skins. The chicken was tender and not overly breaded, but still having a bit of a crisp.
Also selected was the Pork Carnitas Mac & Cheese, crafted with cheese skillet-baked creamy cavatappi spiked with jalapeño peppers and topped with slow-roasted pork carnitas and Pico de gallo. The dish was also drizzled with chipotle sauce and fresh cilantro, and served with warm rustic bread. The pasta was made al dente, with the jalapeno peppers providing a pleasant bite. The pork was delicious, and all the combined ingredients meshed well, resulting in a delightful meal.
Finally, we ordered a cheeseburger with Vermont cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. The fried burger was fine, the bun was fresh, making this classic meal satisfying.
Don't overlook 99 Restaurant and Pub. The food was very good, and the staff was hardworking, always aiming to please. I'd be very surprised if I discovered there weren't many...
