I had a subwoofer and amp unit of my own that was given to me, and I had them installed here. As soon as I drove away, I turned up my music and bass and could barely hear a difference. I tried troubleshooting myself, and noticed they were installed face-down. I don't know a lot about car audio, but I'm pretty sure they should be installed upright, so I repositioned them properly. This still did not make a difference in quality. I returned with my complaint, and the problem seemed to be fixed after they checked it out. However, they were now a bit too loud, even with my stereo bass setting on -6, the lowest setting. A few days after that, the subwoofers began to have a loud, constant feedback sound coming from them. Sometimes it was so loud that I had to turn off my stereo because it hurt my ears. Now, weeks later, my subs no longer work. I finally went to Best Buy to get a second opinion, and I was told they were now blown. The amp I had was not powerful enough for my JBL subs, and now they are ruined. The associate said the amp could have easily overheated the subwoofers, and I'm thankful no damage was done to my vehicle. It would have been nice to know I needed better equipment (before they were installed), so I could have just purchased a new amp. Now, I have to replace the whole system. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Auto Audio in Westerly, when I can go to Best Buy and get professional customer service from someone who can give good advice and quality service...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDO NOT go here unless you bought from there. Pulled into lot and noticed a truck there also with someone standing outside of it. Went in store with my son and no one was in there. Walked around and looked at some stuff and after about 5 minutes went back outside. Guy in parking lot looks at me and rudely says "I'll be in in a minute" while giving me the hand gesture as to shew me away. Came in the store a few minutes later and asks what I need. Tell him I'm putting an amp & box in my son's car and need the pin connector for the radio that has the RCA's. Told him it was a Jenson unit and if it could be ordered. Nope , can't get it he say's in a nano second. So then I asked if I could get some speaker wire to go from the amp to sub box. He wants to know wattage , ohms , type etc. So I say "I'm not exactly sure but it's a 700 watt amp driving a 12" sub " Was told "not enough info but bigger is better" so I said well can I see what you have. Again he says "need more info , can't help you" So if you didn't buy from him or you don't own ALPINE don't even waste your time going there. Miserable old guy that thinks he is superior to everyone and gods gift to the audio industry. Went home and contacted Crutchfield where I purchased the radio a year ago. They are sending me one free of charge. Was just hoping to find something local to finish the job. Then figured I would at least buy something from the guy while...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have gone here over the years numerous times. Originally, about 20yrs ago I purchased equipment and it blew the sub about 3 times. He replaced it each time and he was able to figure out the issue. Fast forward a about 5 years, he put in the amplifier and sub in a different vehicle-which I was again very happy with the service and sound. Fast forward about 8 years ago. He put in the amplifier that I bought with a different sub and aftermarket radio in my 2014 jeep wrangler. I had attempted to put it in myself, but had something together wrong. He was able to fix my mistake and got it in working beautifully as always. I plan on putting the amplifier with the sub in my new Jeep Grand Cherokee with him. Every single time I have gone there, whether the equipment was purchased there or not, he does an outstanding job. They have always treated my vehicle as if it were their own, and it didn't matter if it was a beater, or a brand new one. Looking forward to making an appointment...
