I wish I was leaving a good review as I had high hopes for this new store in the area, unfortunately that isn’t the case. I stopped by last night to buy a gun safe they listed a great deal on. It was available, informed the worker I would take it. Surprised, he acted like he had never sold anything that quickly. He continued to question me instead of walking me to a register for the payment. Being 8pm that evening and not having anyone available to assist me with loading and unloading at my residence, I explained I’d pay for it now then pick it up the following day. He responds, unfortunately we can’t do that. If you aren’t taking it now I will not sell it to you. Understandable, you don’t want to hold onto such a large piece for an extended period of time(if I did not follow through with my word). Initially I explained I’d be back the next night to buy it, but as I was going to walk away I asked how many they had in stock. He says, one in stock and the one we have on the floor. My biggest issue is if I come back tomorrow and you’re out of stock, I’m trying to pay for it now. He then proceeds to explain ordering online or on their app for in store pick up. Easy enough, I said so if I order it right now for in store pick up, I can do so tomorrow? Yes, but you have to be present or give the name of an authorized person to pick up. Got it, I planned on sending a flat bed for it so I will plan to be here as well. I continue to leave the store, download their app, and buy the safe for in store pick up. Mind you, I have already confirmed they had said safe “In stock”. It is almost 3pm on the following day, when I call the store to arrange a time for pick up they continuously act as if I’m an inconvenience to their inventory process currently taking place and tell me they do not have the safe in stock. I continued to get the response that I needed to wait for an email confirmation before I could schedule a time to pick up the safe, mind you I spoke with Eric in the hunting department who had me on the phone explaining he was looking at two of them in the back that were currently available. Trying not to get frustrated I explained to the lady I was speaking to on the phone that the app was telling me earliest pick up was the 19th. I then explained if I knew I had to wait that long for someone to tag one for me I wouldn’t have placed the order online. Nobody really seemed to care to assist me with picking up something I had already paid for. Needless to say I have cancelled the order, bought a Liberty Safe at Tractor Supply, and have received confirmation that it is ready for pick up today! If anyone reviews this and wonders how they can adjust to make sure this doesn’t happen in the future, simply focus on taking care of the customer’s needs best as possible. 5 Strikes and you're out. This store has about the same product as other stores. It is essentially the same as Dicks, maybe with a better hunting department, and less in terms of shoes and such. However, they have wasted my time over and over.

1. Website said they had a certain pair of sneakers. Called and confirmed. Got there and staff had no idea (they didn't have them). 2) Asked them to measure my kid's feet, which are obviously wide. The begrudgingly measured them, and they tried to tell me they are narrow. Confirmed wide on electronic machine at another place. Dont know how to measure feet, even though selling shoes. 3) Website said they had a specific fishing pole. Got there, and they didn't have it. 4) I couldn't find anyone in the store to talk to. Asked the guys in another department (firearms) to call someone. Also asked for who the knowledgeable person to talk to is. They had no idea, and didn't want to help more than calling someone. They were pretty rude about it. Neither was busy at all, and I was not interrupting anything. 5) Called and asked if they know how to put line on a fishing reel in a specific way. They said they do (and they have the machine to do it). Got there and no one knew how to do it.

Academy Sports + Outdoors is a clean store. If you enjoy the outside then this is the place for you. They have everything you would need to go camping. If you like to fish and want to go fishing they have everything you need to go fishing. Need some new sneakers, boots, come check out their selection. Want some comfortable clothes even camouflage clothing come and check this place out. Want to get a new grill to cook on while camping; come and check this place out. When ever I purchase the last of something I always say that it was waiting on me. I purchase something that I should have bought a long time ago just never thought about it till yesterday. The staff are pretty friendly. If you need something they will direct you in the right direction or even go and see if they have more of what you are looking for. I would say that this place is sorta like a Cabela's with out all the animals hanging on the walls and without the RV's, ATV's, boats inside and outside of the store. I like this store.
