After a rather disappointing and stressful experience searching for ao dais at the Asian Garden Mall, finding Thanh Thuy Ao Dai in the adjacent strip mall was a complete breath of fresh air. We almost gave up, but walking into this humble shop changed everything.

The owner, Co Thuy, is an absolute gem! From the moment our group of five walked in, she was incredibly warm, friendly, and genuinely helpful. Her honesty was so refreshing; there was no pressure, just a fun and positive atmosphere. We came in with low expectations after our previous stop, but multiple friends had recommended her shop, and now we know why!

We were all looking for off-the-rack options, and she had a fantastic selection. The quality of the garments was noticeably better than what we had seen elsewhere, and her prices were very fair and reasonable. My partner, my brother, his partner, my friend, and I all walked away with ao dais we love. It was so fun, my friend who came in without plans to buy ao dais, bought 2, including a custom made special one. We were all having fun banter between us all, and Co Thuy joined in on the fun as well.

What started as a shopping trip turned into a genuinely enjoyable experience. We had such a great time that we stayed to chat and get to know Co Thuy better. We even ended up taking a group selfie with her in front of the store because she made us feel so welcome.

I had my ao dai (also my husband’s) custom-made by Chị Thanh Thủy and I loved it so much! I felt so pretty wearing it and got so many compliments. ☺️ I live in Texas but couldn’t find anyone nearby who made ao dai that looked good to me. I was very specific in what I wanted, and her designs fit all the check marks (beautiful and feminine but has a touch of sexiness, classy but also modern enough not to look out-dated, has beautiful lace details and a train which makes it more bridal). When I found Chị Thanh Thủy, I knew I had to fly to California for one of her designs.

She was very sweet and helped me choose a design and fabric color that would look good on me. I read some reviews that said she came off as rude. I think that she’s very direct (a typical Vietnamese auntie trait lol), which may come off as rude, but I appreciated her honesty. For instance, my skin tone is tan, so she told me the original shade of nude I considered would not look good on me. I’m also pretty short, and she was honest that a certain neck line (the one I ended up choosing) would help elongate me. She was right on both counts.

Since I live in Texas, she took my measurements and mailed the ao dai to me. My first ao dai had an issue with it, but she didn’t hesitate to make me another one and even shipped it overnight (costly!) so that I would receive it in time for my bridal portraits. To me, that is great costumer service.

If you are looking for a beautifully made Ai Dai, look no further. We drove from Utah to get our Ao Dai made and were not disappointed. Top notch customer service, high quality, and accommodating. I was leaving the next day and she even rushed to make a loose fitting/mock up so I could come back the next day to ensure that it fits right. If you know anything about Ao Dai and the Vietnamese culture, they are made to fit to your body. I specifically went here because I’m shorter and would be considered plus sized. I was self conscious going in but she was extremely friendly, and patient, even though there were many people in the store as well. She only asks you about your weight and whether you plan on losing weight because most brides will intentionally lose weight between now and the wedding, and ao dai are not forgiving. They are tailored to YOUR BODY. The question is asked so she can tailor it accordingly.

I made the mistake of telling her my actual wedding date instead of when the bridals will be (2 weeks apart). I updated her with this information several weeks later and asked her if there was any way she can meet the new deadline. She was super accommodating and overnighted it to us.
