This review has to do with a manager who is putting customers safety at risk and canât hold on to what she says. We found a camera set and we were inline to go pay for it. We were approached by a man who kept telling us the camera set was not good donât take it. He even went as far as reaching in our carriage to describe the items piece by piece. He offered to go put it back on the shelf for us. As we stand in line to pay for other items we saw the man getting in line to pay for the camera set. We explain to the cashier and she page the store manager. The store manager said âthis is not right. In this case nobody is leaving with this item today. Come back tomorrow when we open at 9:00 AM.â We were extremely angry by the manâs actions. The refused to put the camera set on the shelf. By taking the managerâs word for granted we decided to leave the store and sat in our car. 15 minutes later the man is walking out with the camera set on his back. She is putting the safety of her coworkers and her customers at risk by not holding on to her words. Leaving the store with that camera set 15 minutes later while weâre still on n goodwill property also put the public safety at risk. The manager lied to us and jeopardize our safety by not holding on to her words and by not calling the police to make the man leave the store. The manager has a double standard she can say no to some customers and yes to other for the same item in the store. This goodwill store is located on the post road in Westport Connecticut. The incident happened between 6:30 and 7:25 PM on August 24. Since the doors we were still opened one of us went back to tell her about her double standard and how poorly she performed. This store has items that are locked in special place for managers and store workers to give you access to. This manager will continue to say yes to some customers and no to others. This manager was hoping for us to come back today and tell us the man come before you and paid for the camera set. Thatâs WRONG. We have no place in business for...
Read moreBeen to this Goodwill a few times and had good experiences, except today. Yesterday my mom accidentally donated a jacket that had deep sentimental value to me. Next day, I went to ask if there was any way I could have it back, giving a clear description of the brand, colour, size before I went searching to prove I wasn't stealing or anything. Sure enough, I found it on the racks, and when the clerk rung up the manager, I was met with someone who couldn't care less. The manager took one look at me, flatly told me that Goodwill unfortunately doesn't give back items after processing, and I asked simply, "Aw, really? There's no other way to get this back?" Quote, unquote. I work in the restaurant business where being kind and helpful to customers is a core value, so I was put off when the manager rolled her eyes, said no, and walked away, ending that conversation on a lovely note, leaving me alone at the counter, my jacket in hand. One of the staff members who saw the whole thing consoled me after and he explained everything kindly and clearly, something the manager should have done. I felt a bit better about leaving the jacket after the staff member spoke to me, but that manager... If anything, the clerk and the staff member were more helpful and sympathetic than the manager. I really hope she isn't like this with everyone that needs help. I didn't go to Goodwill to fight for my jacket, I knew it was a longshot (I had to go there and at least ask) but I didn't expect to go there and feel like my problems were dumb and...
Read moreI am a big believer in thrift store bargains and may never shop conventional retail again. There are many bargains to be found in general if you know what to look for.
I believe any thrift store is only as good as the neighborhood it sources content from. This one is located down the road from a Masarati dealer in an affluent part of Connecticut.
Excited for the bargains I would find I was mildly disappointed to find that although there was a greater selection of premium clothing, the pricing of the garments were also higher than if I found similar items in the other Goodwill stores I frequent.
The layout was nice with good lighting - akin to an affluent retail clothing store, unlike some other thrift stores with harsh and institutional fluorescent ballasts.
The staff was friendly and the fitting rooms clean and well lit.
I did find premium clothing at a reasonable price but did wind up spending a little more on some of the boutique items I found due to the location of this Goodwill. Despite this, I will probably go back if I am...
