This is my second review STILL THE BEST INDIAN CUISINE IN CT!!!!!! Where do I even start? The service is impeccable! The best service you will find is located here. Last time I came was three months ago and staff remembered every detail of my last visit! They really think about you and put you in their minds. They really care about you and your experience. They are one of the most experienced staff I have ever had the pleasure to dine with!
The chutney is AMAZING! So balanced and nutritious you really feel like you are eating gold. Yes Gold. I loved it so much that I asked for more and even drank it.
Keena Samosa
I had the Keena Samosa again to see how it is the second time since the first time was amazing! On my first bite I think my pupils dilated in euphoria. It tasted even better than last time! The samosa had the perfect crunch and flavor! A must try when you come on over.
Tawa Fish
It was Excellent! The dish had a the right amount of spice for me. It was very soft and decadent. Almost as if it has a lush texture. It had the greatest aroma of all time! Fish is difficult to cook and the team in the Kitchen are Masters!!
Chapati/Garlic Nan The best of the best Chapati and Garlic Nan I ever had. It was made with so much love and so much care. It was a great supplement to any meal.
Chicken Tikka Masala I then had the Chicken Tikka Masala again and WOW it tasted even better than before!!! Before when I first tried it it was perfect and the best ever. This time it was enhanced and it set a new bar of perfect. It was so balanced and you felt like a pure KING after eating it! The portion was perfect too enough to share and enough to have for yourself. It was perfect. The chicken burst with flavor with each chew.
The Rice
The Rice..................was hands down the BEST rice I ever had! It was so soft, delicate and full of texture. The flavor complimented everything. I don't want to spoil the experience for you. Rice is the grain of life! I need you to try for yourself. When you do pat yourself in the back for reading this review.
Gulab Jamun A desert so rich in flavor that you will see it on your plate on moment and gone the next. You know when you are so full but the desert just makes extra space for you because it's so good? Yeah that was me. I ate the whole thing! I can eat a hundred of them!!! The dish on its own can be sold to anyone and they would like it! The ball of joy had me almost to tears!
Kheer Last but not least their rice pudding! Oh my gosh!!!! This made me desire more of it! I want a whole cauldron. In fact I was so happy with it that it made me really mellow and put me to sleep after a large meal!!! The flavor was addicting and I felt myself almost levitating!

Read moreShort Summary: Great Indian food, inexpensive, wonderful owner & employees. This is the best Indian food around! We have been customers for many years at the Norwalk location. The Westport location is excellent! The employees are really nice and the cooks are Indian people - this might sound crazy but you have to make sure Indian people cook your Indian food. We have visited India before and I can truly say this food is amazing! 5 Stars! Extensive Review: Food: Fresh, delicious, excellent! We’ve traveled all over India so trust us, VEDAS is amazing! Music: We also enjoy the Indian music that is played in the VEDAS restaurants. It would be weird to hear the generic American pop music in this restaurant. We’ve found quite a few Indian songs here that we now play in our home. We really like the authenticity of the music here. Thank you for sharing your wonderful culture! People: Owner is JP, a great guy. The employees are excellent too. They understand top notch Asian style service. They word hard. They’re very honest, helpful, and considerate of guests. They love to share interesting information about their Indian culture. Also they all seem so grateful to be here in this wonderful country and to have an opportunity to work for such a great guy, JP. Definitely get to know the employees, you won’t regret it. Feels great to support a small business and to support a family man, JP. This is really refreshing in an era where many of us take the opportunities and blessings that we have for granted. Price: Great value for the quality. If you’re on a very tight budget, you’ll love the lunch specials. Other: We like that JP and the restaurant are making efforts to reduce the use of plastics. When we order takeout, we’ve noticed that they don’t include plastic utensils. Considering my goal is to never use a plastic utensil again in my life, I love this! Also a lot of the dishes come in paper containers instead of plastic. To give you an example of how important this is to us, there are some restaurants where we love the food but we simply won’t go anymore because we don’t want to participate in excessive use of plastics. Some of our favorite dishes include the Mulligatawny Soup and the Chana Saag (pictured). Sidenote: Sometimes I bring the Mulligatawny Soup to my grandma. She loves it! The cumin and spices in the soup might also help her mind which is very important as she gets older. In summary, the food is great, fresh, and inexpensive relative to the quality. I like that even if you order something small, it takes about 5-10 minutes to make it because everything is FRESH. The people are awesome, there’s great music & culture, I learn something new about India every time. Also, the restaurant is trying hard to cut down on pollution and excessive plastic consumption. Awesome! Love...
Read moreVedas Indian Cuisine in Westport offers the same quality and menu that you get at their Norwalk location - it offers more sitting space but both are excellent and at the top of our list for quick lunch stops or take-out. The staff at both restaurants is friendly, which quickly cultivates an environment where people want to sit down for some time to eat - so we have often gone there for dinner on account of that. The quality of their service and cooking is above par - and not just from a purely subjective measure: their owner, chefs, and employees are all highly experienced, recognized, and ranked in the culinary world - the casual atmosphere defies the stuffiness that usually comes with more formal restaurants: the experience and quality in a casual atmosphere is a winning combination.
I highly recommend the Onion Bhajis, Lasuni Gobi, Lamb Biryani, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Balti, and Rasmalai. The biggest challenge at Vedas is trying new things - it's easy to settle on the first item you try there, but every time I try something new I feel I need to recommend that too.
We've been visiting the Norwalk Vedas location for a few years. Knowing its expansion potential, we visited the Westport location when it opened and were curious to see how a second restaurant operation would impact the menu and food quality: the food is just as exceptional thanks to a disciplined approach to replicating the quality of the first restaurant; in fact, we have been two both the Norwalk and Westport locations in recent weeks and the consistency in the quality of service and food is above par.
Vedas' chefs have included a Michelin rated cook by the name of Peter Beck (whose specialty was to help set the team up at Westport to focus on consistency and quality to match their Norwalk location). Chef Beck was there the first few times we visited and answered a lot of our questions as we researched his history in culinary work in the greater New York City area.
The new Vedas is located on a strip of storefronts that includes a variety of cuisines - from pizza to fish and chips. So it adds to the eclectic quality of the area and is accessible and comfortable.
The biggest regret about Vedas is that they don't have a Greenwich location - but it's such a pleasure visiting both their Norwalk and Westport locations that we frequent the restaurant as much as those in our vicinity here...
