Ulta Beauty — Local services in Westwood

Westwood Ulta stole my heart away from the Natick spot, granted I'm not a customer who falls in love easily with places. A large portion also is attributed to the surrounding shops at University Station (looking at you: Nordstrom Rack, Target, Wegmans).

Anyway other factors that they have more control over stem from the positive impression I got from their grand opening I attended with a friend last year. We were all given vouchers to redeem for a free blowout and $5 off coupon that I used on eyeliner. Since then I've had a great time coming to my makeup happy place. I usually don't ask for assistance but they seem generally helpful. I also have asked them over the phone to put some highly popular sets for me on hold that sold out online/other stores.

I've also been consistently pleased with the salon even though each time I've gone with a promotion. $10 hair cut for breast cancer research, $15 living proof style and free blowout.

Only issue I've had is slight attitude and begrudge when returning an item I got on sale. I tried to do an even exchange of the same product but different shade, since the one I picked out online made me look like a cartoon. It was from their drugstore brands, NYX. Seriously is the $3-$6 worth making me feel uneasy about? The manager came to her senses and told the sales associate it was fine and not to bother me to pay the messily difference. If they could work on that and respect customer loyalty status that would be fantastic. Oh and if they would let me know about the other Store specific events that aren't generic...

I really love Ulta. Even more than Sephora. However I was very sad to have had a bad experience here for the first time. I went to Ulta because my birthday just passed and I was hoping to not only buy a new lipstick but also get my reward. When I was ready to check out the cashier Katya was very friendly, I didn’t want to just put my items on the counter and I actively made the effort to place my items in her hands. As I was about to check out I was surprised she didn’t see about birthday reward so I asked her. She told me “did you get a email” at at that point her expression and voice changed as if I had personally done something to her. Mind you, this its been a whole year since I got my reward. I forgot there was an email I had to show. In my shock I was unable to find the email ( which I did find later) She gave the birthday reward to me anyway but very rudely. I wish my reaction wasn’t delayed. I would’ve declined getting it because of the way she treated me. First off I wasn’t lying about the reward, I didn’t even know what it was and when I found it.. it wasn’t even worth it. Second if you’re going to give it to me with an attitude then just save it. Very rude employee. I was spraying a bottle that was already opened and assumed it was a tester. The employee ran up to me and started screaming at me that I’m not allowed to spray it and continued to yell at me. She grabbed the bottle from me after yelling at me with so much attitude. The most rude employees there. Never going there. She had long curly black hair and fair skin. I had never ever experienced such a rude employee there. I expected her to come up to me and inform me politely that it’s not a tester like any employee would. So unprofessional and rude. You don’t get paid any extra to scream at me.
