We left the house in Newton two years ago after having lived there 30+ years. The kids were gone and we were looking to downsize, but we weren’t really sure where we wanted to live and what kind of housing we wanted—a condo or single family home, so we decided to rent at The Gables University Station for a year to figure it all out. Yet here we are still at The Gables University Station two years later! Why? Because we absolutely love it here—and for many reasons. The location is perfect (love the Amtrak Station across the street ), our apartment is gorgeous, the amenities are amazing, the sense of community is alive and well and the people who work here are incredible. Hallie and all of her administrative staff in the leasing office keep this place running like a top. They are competent, efficient and super friendly—they really care. I especially remember how kind and helpful Dago was when we first moved in. I feel Hallie and her staff do everything they possibly can to make this place feel like home. Got a problem, question or suggestion—they will listen. Peter McGovern and his entire maintenance crew are quick and responsive to any and all requests that we have ever had, and they do it all with big bright smiles on their faces. Most recently we found ourselves with no hot water very late in the day. I called Peter, he determined there was an issue with the hot water heater, and by mid-day the following day we were up and running with a brand new hot water heater Peter had installed for us. We love living here, it feels like family. I would recommend The Gables University...
Read moreUniversity Station is a vibrant, open-air lifestyle hub anchored by Target, Wegmans, and Nordstrom Rack—making it a one‑stop spot for groceries, shopping, and more . The center spans over 750,000 sq ft across retail, dining, fitness, offices, and apartments .
The Wegmans is a personal favorite—clean, well‑organized, with great fresh produce, sushi, lobster, and even made‑to‑order meals. It’s absolutely worth the trip . Target, Ulta, Marshalls/HomeGoods, PetSmart, and newer additions like Bath & Body Works, Ann Taylor Factory, and a med spa round out the mix, making each visit both useful and fun .
Dining-wise, there’s a pleasing variety—from fast eats like Smashburger and Chipotle to sit-down spots like Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza and Not Your Average Joe’s—plenty of options for family meals or quick runs between errands . The outdoor setting is pleasant with green spaces and cafés, although traffic around the lots can be a bit congested at peak times .
On a personal note, I love meeting friends here: grabbing sushi from Wegmans, strolling past HomeGoods for décor finds, then settling into a burger at Smashburger. The center feels friendly and community‑focused—plus the direct access to the Route 128 MBTA/Amtrak station makes it easy for me to plan trips into Boston or beyond .
University Station is more than just a mall—it's a true suburban gathering spot offering great convenience, quality, and variety. Whether running errands, catching up with friends, or treating yourself to something new, it's a reliably enjoyable...
Read moreWegmans has incredibly nice staff(seriously, awesome people!), friendly environment, very clean and -tons- of options. Produce is fresh, Cafe area is fantastic, wonderful selection of prepared foods and items for dinner or entertaining. Walking into this place is a bit dizzying, it's huge and delightful and seems like a magical wonderland at first, with cute trains and fancy displays and delightful treats at every turn. All these things said, this store is clearly -designed- to try to get you to spend more time in it and impulse buy more things. Items in the store are not organized by type and grouped together in the traditional logic, they are spread out into multiple areas in such a way as to encourage you to purchase the Wegmans brand, or navigate past the many, many little tempting displays of little treats or nicknacks should you attempt to find where else that type of item might be in order to find the brand you prefer. This confusing and sometimes frustrating laying could easily seem like poor or lazy design - it's not, there's an intelligence behind it trying to manipulate your distracted mind into impulse buying or spending more on the store brand. So, while it's an amazing place to pick up a couple things for a nice dinner, I don't think I will be trying to do a full load of groceries there again, and to anyone who does I recommend you just try to be aware of how their...
