EXTREMELY disheartening that Petco will no longer groom my senior 12 1/2 year retriever mix because he has developed a tumor in his bladder stating he’s a liability , it’s policy, the groomers aren’t comfortable, so many excuses but never an ounce of empathy for my poor sweet boy. He has always been the best natured and most loving affectionate dog his whole life. He was bathed and groomed in s.Weymouth Petco in December in an hour without a problem!!! He looked and felt amazing! NOw in April I get a call after 2 1/2 hours that he urinated on table and blood in urine so they won’t groom him. I explained he is 12 1/2 and he can’t help it, he has a bladder tumor that causes blood in his urine. He is on anti inflammatory and pain meds for comfort. But not given to him in few days due to his appt and because I know their policy of no meds… unfortunately he urinates more often, from his tumor in his bladder. But this fluffy retriever mix feels amazing after a bath and groom and how could they just deny him service and not show compassion , understanding or a sense of concern and just refusing to ever provide him service again? I felt soo emotionally hurt for how they could be so heartless and unwilling , yet they are trained in the profession to care for pets ?!? Sadly he graduated as a puppy in Petco puppy training but got kicked out as a senior because he is not in perfect health ? Shame on you Petco , I work in a medical facility and understanding , kindness and empathy is number 1 in every situation and interaction!!!! This will never be ok in our book how your lack of compassion by staff made us feel . Also want to alert other pet owners to know before they are in a situation as...
Read moreWe made an appointment for our senior Newfoundland to be groomed. We have previously been to Petco in Taunton and it went GREAT. They were so considerate of the fact that she may need breaks, they were kind to her and more than happy to have her. She has an amazing temperament and is a very patient dog and is used to the grooming experience.
When we showed up to our appointment at the Weymouth Petco, we were greeted with eye rolls and sighs of annoyance the second they saw our dog. The woman who we spoke to said that they couldn’t brush her out and that they would need to just shave her down- keep in mind it is the middle of winter and she wasn’t matted at all. We still said that’s fine she just needs to feel comfortable. THEN they ask us if she is on medication….we say yes and we said we may think it’s a type of steroid to help with joint pain. She said well we won’t take her if she’s taking that so then we look through her records and find out it is just an allergy med. She says well we STILL won’t take her. She wants us to take her off her meds for 24 HOURS if we want another appointment.
We made another appointment with Petco in Taunton today and they told us that it made no sense at all and the only med that would be a problem is if it was a heart or seizure med.
I just thought that the fact that they simply didn’t want to take the job since she was a bit of extra work was terrible. Our poor dog is elderly and needs help simply feeling comfortable. This is part of the job. I, myself do hair and if someone came in with matted hair or needed some help taking care of themselves guess what? WE DO IT. because it is exactly what the job...
Read moreDog/Puppy Training Review- We did not actually enroll or take part in the training, rather this review is about one of the trainers whom I spoke on the phone with. It sounded like his name was Jonah, if you scroll down there's mention of a Joe and a very juicy review of "It sounded like a J name". Long story short, he asked barely any information about my dog (namely the age) when he wanted to say "We'll talk about how to do that better" after all I told him was my puppy had just gone down for a nap. She's 12 weeks old, puppies sleep for a large portion of the day... Well I challenged him by saying "Should my puppy not be napping?" to which he laughed and said "I have another customer I need to tend to" - very, very poor customer service seeing as I am also a customer. Just like when you train a dog, you need to be aware of warning signs and red flags for who is setting examples for your loved ones, and the feeling that's given here is how I will feel when I really don't appreciate how he handles my puppy only to be met with the same attitude. Not to mention, the "juicy" review involves the same guy apparently hitting on young girls. And you know what, after hearing his cringey voice interrupt me every other sentence, I'm inclined to...
