Tried again after many disappointments. It shocks me that I walked in there at 6:30 and immediately I was told we only take credit cards. There’s literally a sign posted that says you save money by paying cash. As a business owner myself I know what I pay in credit card fees and I can’t imagine people I’m taking credit cards only if they are willing to pay cash for a six dollar piece of cake! I was also informed that they will be closing at 7 PM which I’m not really sure why we needed to make that exclamation when I am standing in the store at 6:30 just waiting to be served and nobody is doing anything. I might as well have been invisible other than The card only comment. I stood there for five minutes while a girl swept the floor and the other girl hid in the back room. I couldn’t even believe what she did to the poor girl that was sweeping! I don’t care what she was doing, she should’ve tended to the customer first. Let the poor other girl finish her sweep. This is what happens when you let children run your store. Edit to add: don’t choose the rainbow cake slice..so dry and tastes like food coloring. My bad. But last time a got a mini cake for $20 outta the case and man was that bad. I threw it in the trash I think it must’ve been weeks old. So so dry. I think I’m done with montilios after this. Gone way down hill! I just saw another review and was reminded of the same scenario we experienced. Ordered a baby shower cake. Showed up to find a New Year’s Eve cake with a martini glass on it. Ummm no. I had said I liked the colors used on the new year cake in the case and to go with those colors. It clearly stated baby shower cake! Of course there weren’t any decorators in so they ended up having to call someone from another store to redo it. They made this cake that had hot pink flowers we didn’t want, had then redo it again…this is after someone on the store had spent an horror trying to fix it in the first place and also had brought out a hideous cake with hot pink flowers…they finally got it right after 5 attempts....
Read moreI ordered 3 cakes for my son's first birthday. The first one for his smash photos (about a week before his bday party) was completely wrong. It was supposed to be all white and they gave me a naked cake. The 2 other custom ordered cakes (total of $405) were for my son's first birthday with 50 people. I went to pick up the cakes about 4 hours before the party starts and they said they weren't there. Come to find out they wrote down the wrong date. This was after double checking everything after the first cake was wrong. Naturally I broke down sobbing when I found out I had no cake for my son's first birthday I spent months planning. The girl working had no solution but to give me a refund and to choose a cake from the case since there's no decorators in. The entire ordering process with them was such a cluster. I was helped my multiple people and no one got anything right. I ended up leaving the store and going to fratellis. While I was doing that my husband who was at home with our baby called Montilios to try and get a better solution. After about an hour of back and forth phone calls they said they would call in a decorator to Brockton and we could get a cake made but it wouldn't be ready until the time our party started and they wouldn't compensate the cake for all the issues. We declined since at this point we already had fratellis fixing the situation.
My entire family has been ordering montilios for years and all of us agree it has gone such downhill. I am so thankful that Fratellis down the street was able to save the day and decorate a cake and a smash cake with only 2 hours notice and at 1/3 of a cost. My entire family loved the cakes there and can't wait to continue getting everything from there...

This one hurts to write because this used to be my go-to spot for fresh pastries. Before Montilio’s took over, the bakery was a solid 5 out of 5—everything tasted homemade, you could smell the butter and sugar the second you walked in, and every bite felt like it was made with care.
Now, it’s just not the same. The baked goods look nice, but they don’t taste fresh. You can tell most of it comes from a central kitchen and not from ovens in the back like before. The texture and flavor feel mass-produced, not crafted. There’s no depth, no love in it anymore—just product.
The staff is mostly high school kids, which isn’t a bad thing, but they often seem lost when you ask questions about what’s in something or when it was made. Service feels rushed and transactional. The warmth and pride that used to define the place are gone.
And the credit card surcharge? That’s disappointing. Montilio’s isn’t a small mom-and-pop struggling to get by. Passing credit fees onto customers feels cheap for a bakery with their reputation and prices.
Plenty of other reviews say the same—beautiful presentation, mediocre taste. If you care about the real bakery experience, this isn’t it anymore. It feels like the soul left when the ownership changed.
I’ll give it a 2 out of 5. You’ll get something that looks good in a box, but not something you’ll crave...
