This company operates on an old, outdated predatory business model designed to prey on consumers that are susceptible to marketing schemes (glass windows, and smiling property managers don’t make the apartment “high end” ). Completely not worth the premium price tag. You may as well sign a contract that says “I waive my basic human rights”.
Mail gets lost/ routed back. I lost my car title and passport in the mail. Car got towed twice in the FIRST week by the local vulture tow shop. I ate the cost because I simply didn’t have the time/energy to argue. I have no idea why they chose a vulture shop as their towing company. Awfully suspicious. ($300 per tow, how predatory is that price-per-tow? Where do they get off thinking $300 is an reasonable amount to charge for a tow?) Fees fees fees. Live as a slave to their rules or get punishment fees. Hallways are full of trash cans at 8PM. Leave your trash can open by accident is a $75 fine. This is their process solution to awful building design. (Garbage cans are a 10 minute walk, be prepared to spend lots of time and $ learning their system for living) No parking, and garage parking. You’ll be charged Ancillary fees on top on ancillary fees. Be prepared to walk 5 minutes to and from your car. Walls are paper thin and will drive you nuts. I’ve rented hotels for months at a time because of the noise from the elevator If you live on the northeast side of the building, it’s a 10 minute walk to garage and mail. Tenants use a cart to collect their packages. Fees, fees, fees. If there’s a chance to tack on fees, this place will attack. I was given a $700 eviction fee for being late on rent 22 days (happy to provide screenshotted conversations of this, email me). I asked to move out, and was asked to pay $6000 more. You waive your basic human rights when you sign the contract. If you’re sensitive to air pollutants, you’ll live as I did with a bulk package of super strength Claritin taken as daily medication. The HVAC system is god awful. AC in units doesn’t work.
I’m preparing to fight my case in court simply on principle alone, and will be finding previous tenants victimized by this predatory company.
Word of caution: don’t make the same mistake I did by moving here, or risk living as a...

Pros: The units are stunning Great amenities Good location Staff is nice Maintenance is quick to remedy tickets and are always upbeat when you see them Frequent community events Most neighbors are nice
Cons: Residents are not accountable Trash is left where it shouldn’t be (in hallways, in elevator rooms, in amenities) Amenities are not kept up People use the game room then leave their empty beer bottles, there are broken tables and busted lights in this space The bath in the pet spa is hardly ever clean, owners leave dirt and pet hair in the drain which causes a swampy smell. I have a small white shih tzu which requires me to lift the white board up to bathe her, every time I’ve used the spa it’s looked like the photos attached Things break often (garage, doors with fobs, elevators) Cannot control temperature in your unit Elevators on south side of building frequently smell of dog urine; they’ve had to replace the carpet because of it You’ll find a surprise pile of dog waste INSIDE of the building once a month Dog owners do not clean up after their pets Even though it is a smoke free community, people still smoke wherever they please The fire alarm went off 5 times in the year I lived here, not once was there an actual emergency. While this is annoying it's also dangerous, if there is ever a real emergency residents will likely be slow to vacate.
My December lease renewal did increase $70 which isn’t terrible but if your lease is up in the summer months it’s likely much higher, I’ve spoken to several other residents and see that as a trend.
I will say I don’t really get the parking complaints, it’s typical in Cook County to need to register your car and guests cars: I’ve lived in 3 apartments in Illinois and this is typical. Management sends out reminders about it all the time so anyone who gets towed is pretty much their own fault. The 8 parking passes a month does fall short though in my opinion.
While the staff here are nice, they could definitely do a better job at enforcing their community rules and maintaining the property. I personally decided to move out because of these issues, for the price you pay, the property is not...
Read moreUnsafe to park in the garage!!! On a Sunday morning we found our car with broken back window. The car was parked in an assigned parking spot, which we paid for. We informed the office right away and were told to wait until Monday because the manager was not there. On Monday at 1 pm I went to talk to the manager. She said that they checked the LOBBY camera and they did not find anything. I don’t understand the reason of checking that specific camera if the garage is on the other side of the building. I did not hear any apologies at all. She acted VERY RUDE, unprofessional and did not care about the situation. I asked to prepare recordings from different cameras which are installed on the garage stairs. Around 5 pm I went to the office again and was told that I will not be able to speak to the manger because she is busy posting rentals. Her door was open and she heard that I was there. Of course, she decided not to step out of her room and help us. The staff doesn’t want to release any camera footage! We are paying extra money to have the car parked in a safe spot! What we are getting back is broken window. Uptown 500 does not want to take any responsibilities. If you charge $70 per month, you should at least install cameras on each floor and be responsible for what is going on on your property!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We also want to give a HUGE thank you to our neighbors who did this and did not have any courage to admit the truth. Because the window is broken I can not use my car. We checked multiple shops and everyone is saying that the glass is OUT OF STOCK. It’s been already 23 days since this happened and I’m still paying for Uber out of...
