Miklas Meat Market — Local services in Wheeling

I have been a long time customer of this establishment, but I do not know if I can tolerate the behavior I have witnessed my last few times in the store. The person who I believe is the manager, a middle aged woman with dark hair, has berated and mistreated an employee the past few times I have been in your store. He has a beard and is very, very sweet and always takes great care of me and my family. This young man is an excellent example of the kind of worker you should be lucky to have. When I have been in the store, he is always the hardest working person there, and this manager yells at him and treats him terribly. This young man is always doing something when I am in the store, whether recommending meats, giving cooking advice, stocking shelves, carrying groceries to cars for women and elderly customers and cleaning. This young man is quite big, but from what I can tell her seems like a gentle giant. When I was in the store last, there were a few young girls who all stood in a corner by the end of the counter and talked, while there were many customers not taken care of, and as this young man was taking bags to another couple, she proceeded to scream at him across the store to “get over to the deli and do your job” or something to the extent. I cannot recall this woman ever waiting on a single customer in my past few visits. I, as well as my wife, daughter and grandson have also been in the store when the owner has screamed at workers. I genuinely do not understand why this young man, and many of the young girls who work there are talked to so poorly, but I hope that this matter can be resolved. I don’t want to even imagine what happens behind closed doors if this is how workers are treated in front of customers. I will be calling Monday morning and I hope to speak to whoever...

Went to the store to buy something for Valentine's dinner. At the door there was a sign saying it could take a few minutes longer since they're short handed. After being the only person standing at the counter for a few minutes while 4 staff members just stood there chatting with each other I walked out. I called later and spoke with the manager. She told me that there is a line at the front of the store and if you're not standing there they won't wait on you. I told her I walked to the right side of the store first and did not see any signs. She told me that they're posted throughout the store which I didn't see any of them. She did not even apologize or say that she was sorry. With this type of attitude I don't think I'll ever go back. UPDATE: In response to your reply, I only seen 1 sign on my way out the door. Irregardless, 4 workers were just standing there talking to each other and acted like I wasn't even standing there. With that type of rudeness I don't think I'll ever go back. And personally your response shows the lack of sincerity just like the service that your workers wouldn't provide. If one of your workers would have acknowledged me and even told me the proper way to place an order, I would have appreciated that. This reminds me of a certain Seinfeld episode...

OMG, this place is as awesome as awesome gets. The staff is great, and the selection and meat are the best. This is the best place in Wheeling to get meat products. LOVE THIS PLACE

Update 5/5/25 - if you're not shopping here, you're missing out. The down-home vibe and everyone knows your name or at least your face, is SECOND TO NONE...this place never disappoints. Everyone behind the counter is a joy to deal with
