I went to my local Aldi’s (Seven Mile in the Villages) today and picked up a couple of packs of their Breakfast sausage links. It’s been my “go to” for a while now. When I got home I threw them in a hot pan to fry them up. After a few minutes I noticed that something was off. They usually sweat as small bubbles form under the casting and break open allowing some of the fat in the sausage to escape. These didn’t, they just sat there and stuck to the pan. I scraped them loose and turned them to, brown evenly and as I moved them around, I noticed that they looked like they were wrapped in plastic as the meat shrunk but not the casting. I finally took them off the heat and skinned one. The casting on each link was thick and frankly they looked like used condoms. At this point I tried to call Aldi’s to let them know about the possibly defective food item but, corporate does not answer the phone, the automated attendant told me that it was a cost cutting measure not to have anyone at this number a store answer phones and if I wanted customer service, I had to go online. I opted to return them to the store and asked for a manager. She came by and I told her about it, showed her what they looked like and also the empty casting and suggested that if they were defective, she might want to pull them and return them to the manufacturer. After asking me if I wanted to pick out another package (yeah right), her reply could have been given an automated attendant. “Just get in a line and return them to the cashier for a refund”. At that point she returned to stocking the vegetables without even giving the other sausages on the shelf a once over. I’m highly unimpressed with her willingness to “kick the problem down the road” and hoping that the next complaint about these sausages might be handled by a different manager. My impression of Aldi’s took a hit today and now they remind me of how though of the chain when I first entered one many, many years ago and it was...
Read moreThey have great prices on a lot of things but a limited selection if they don't have it you're not going to get it they don't even have hot dog buns that's what I went there for. Yes I got a good deal on lamb chops on my greens and my little tomatoes but it's hit or miss some days they have what you want the next day they don't have it but they do have some very good prices a lot of items we like in the frozen section. I get a gallon of 100% pure apple juice for $5 and change its $10 at Winn-Dixie more at Publix. I like their store brand ginger ale it's better than Canada dry but we could never do all our shopping there but we do get some good values on some quality items. A lot of Staples that we buy regularly are half the price at Aldi. If they have it you get a good price if they don't well then you got to go next door to Publix or Winn-Dixie
They really have become a piece of crap lately horrible service no service horrible selection some things are good deals like the bread and the ice cream sandwiches the tissues and their store brand soda but most everything else is just generic although I will say the lamb is very good the salmon coho salmon from Chile is very good the corned beef hash is very good the canned chili is very good the produce prices significantly less hot dog hamburger buns everything bagels 20% of the cost of Publix but no service nobody to help you no butcher no fish guy no deli department no cooked or...
Read moreI came here on 7/2/2023 around 5 pm. As soon as I entered the door, me and my girlfriend had to use the bathroom, so we went to the bathroom and parked our cart outside the bathroom door without shopping or entering the main store yet. When we got out of the bathroom and walked toward the main floor to shop, the cashier with the purple/pink hair yelled at us. She yelled, "You didn't just bring that cart down that hallway..." She yelled this as if we were a couple of 12-year-olds committing a crime. The people in the front of the store looked at us as if we were a couple of thieves when we just were innocently going to the bathroom. I argued with her and pointed out that she was wrong in the way she approached us. Firstly, if there is a rule against bringing your cart to the hallway when using the bathroom, it should be posted- it was not. Secondly, YOU DO NOT YELL AT LOYAL CUSTOMERS for something that could have been explained professionally. I felt shocked by the disrespectful tone, and I felt embarrassed by the employee's behavior which was inappropriate. I told Miss Purple hair that I would not be shopping here anymore to which she responded "That's OK." Looks I'll be back to shopping at Walmart. Aldi needs to teach their...
