I donât even know where to start. Iâm sure the others that had a better experience were probably more based on the tour guide, which resulted in a much more eventful trip than us. Iâm going to give this entire âghost tourâ the benefit of the doubt and assume that if we had another guide- it would have been much better. However, our tour guide was (Name withheld to not be unnecessary cruel). The entire group started out with much excitement and enthusiasm in the beginning, this was until we got to the first stop. The rest of the tour could have been much better if the first story hadnât drained all of the excitement completely. The tour guide, for the entire 30 minute tale, proceeded to ramble and mansplain every minute detail that was entirely unnecessary to the story. By the time we got to the actual ghost part, two people had already left, four people had sat down, and the others were recording a stray cat. She then proceeded to lead us 25 feet to another parking lot. We stood there for another 30 minutes (despite the fact she claimed this would be brief) and listed the details of an actor (whom no one knew) and movies he had been in for at least more than half of the story. She had lost all momentum before any details had been revealed, converting a haunting ghost story- that had potential to be interesting- to a boring school class lecture. We made it to our next stop with low expectations. She didnât make it 1/4 of the way through the story before someone who was clearly on drugs (a crackhead) walked by our group. Which then, she proceeded to say that the person on drugs was their companyâs competitor- then talked about their competition for around 5 minutes. The stories revolving the stop were immensely boring. One of which she spent 15 minutes talking about the story of a college boy who was vacuuming in the basement and knocked over a chair, he turned and the chair was 10 feet away. Thatâs it. Thatâs the story. Some of the other stories told- like I said- had the potential to be very interesting and scary, if it hadnât been told in the unprofessional, boring manner. The best, and most accurate way I could describe would be listening to a distant Aunt try to tell a story at a Thanksgiving, just to have her get derailed and talk about something irrelevant. After the third stop, we left. It had already neared the time limit, and the tour guide claimed we still had two more stops. We left knowing if we had stayed, weâd become ghosts ourselves. I am not one to write reviews. To be frank, I have never written any review ever before. I was just so compelled to write this to fill the $80 and 2 hour hole...
Read moreWe have been on this tour 8+ times at this point. We usually end up taking guests and they typically agree it is fabulously done. We have learned so much about our city and now have interesting reference points/conversation pieces to share.
Tonightâs tour experience was anything but the standard we have come to expect. We covered a total of 5 stops, without deviating from market street. This made for an extremely boring experience. Previous trips have had us totally immersed as we weaved our way through the city.
Our guide was very interested in their theatrical performance, but did not do the best job of describing the relevance on how the âhauntingsâ would manifest or interact with a reality of today. We were left with the impression that the guide made it seem like the audience was there to see them, and that the fragmented stories were just a sweetener. We felt that this detracted from the tour.
This is the first time we were anxiously waiting for the tour to actually be over. I am glad this wasnât my first tour with the company. We never would have returned if this was our initial encounter. Unfortunately, this is not the case for our guests. We are embarrassed they spent the money on this per our recommendation and we are going to revisit our enthusiasm for...
Read moreWe did the walk with Steve L. on a beautiful evening in September and it was lovely, but that's not where this starts. This review, starts in an alley and ends with a story of heroism and a loyal friend. The walk goes through some beautiful streets in downtown Wilmington and stopped at some historic homes in the area. Each stop Steve shared not only a "ghost story" but some history about the home, the family, and the events at the time of the story. The stories were all well researched and peppered with current anectodes. While Steve was loud enough to be heard on the streets of Wilmington he was respectful of the residential streets and homes in the area. His voice was quiet when it needed and drew you in with the stories he shared. He created a fun atmosphere and was great at bringing everyone in to talk about the history and stories of the locations he choose to bring us to. There were about 5 stops on the tour and each was unique and different but all threaded together with history and heartbreak. I would absolutely take this tour again in hopes of seeing some of the other 27 or so locations and hearing their...
