Thank you for a great evening with my family. I'll never forget it nor will my daughter. Great sense of humor...had my 4 yr old laughing especially with the oooh's and ahhh's. So very informative and made the town history come alive to us. The buildings you showed us amazing...the true stories of the famous people that lived there...like the little boy who became the president. Bless you sir. And oh so very romantic to take my daughters mother (who is my ex)on and rekindled some love. Was the best evening I had in yrs hands down! Speaking of hands....the horse was beautiful. All the horses they use are rescues and rehabilitated that normally would have been put down from their injuries. All the money goes to the ranch to care and rehabilitate these wonderful animals. Bless you for that too coming from a man that is a true country boy and does volunteer work for Nature World Rescue and Rehabilitation in Florida. I got tears for the memory of this tour. Cant say thank you enough. Everyone who reads this....please experience this, bring your children...bring your significant other, bring your ex...you wont regret it. God does many wonderful things in life this is definately at the top of my list. Cant wait to come back to Wilmington and do it again and again as there are...
Read moreToo bad we couldn't try this due to awful business practices. For 3 days, no response to phone calls or messages. Company was simply M.I.A. No website message, voice-mail update, sign at the welcome stand. Nothing.
On our last vacay day, we actually went anyway and sat with 7 other potential patrons at the listed meet area and had a fantastic time eating ice cream and sweets from the ice cream shop nearby. They, too, couldn't figure out what to do, but we made temporary friends for about an hour and a half. A vendor told us the company wouldn't be working that day if they hadn't shown up by 2pm. He said that was "sorta typical."
We asked several other neighboring shop owners, I promised to not name them, but they all agreed this is normal. If the horses are there, then they're available. If not, no one knows when they will be. Despite hours listed on the website. At the end of the street, there's a visitor info station whose attendant said the same thing. LOL.
So, as a few others here have commented in these reviews... plan w flexibility.. Don't buy the tickets in advance because you won't know if they will be operating or not. I guess it's...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars, I would. I DO believe there is a humane way to have horse drawn carriages and this is not it. They aren’t pulling carriages, they’re pulling full blown BUSES that can carry 20 or more people in (no exaggeration) 100 degree weather. There is no argument that you can explain to me that will make this okay. As I passed the driver, she mentioned “We’re still boarding if you’re ready to join our tour!” To which I replied, “I don’t think the horse are ready.” She then proceeded to scream at me. She continued harassing me and even followed me down to the waterfront trying to justify the conditions the horses were working in. (An older woman with long blondish hair) I absolutely felt threatened so I replied I wasn’t interested and stopped responding, and walked away until she stopped following me. I cannot believe the way I was treated for declining a ride and advocating for an innocent animal. If the way they treated me is any indication of how they treat their horses, they are NOT teated well. Please do your research when partaking in any horse drawn carriage experience—but DO NOT support...
