Here it goes⦠before Easton hospital became St. Lukeās, it was Easton Hospital. You did not expect too much from the place. A local hospital not in the most elite area of town, but respectable enough to go if you have an emergency. I told myself I would never go there again.
When it became St. Lukeās⦠I was hoping that the care takers would take more pride in the name. I went back in 2022⦠the head of ER gave me a crazy diagnosis that my actual doctor had to remove from my dashboard. My doctor had explained to me that I did not have the illness that she claimed. My doctor compassionately explain that Iām well, if I were not well I would not be able to function on a daily basis with no medication. I was so disappointed and it hurt my self esteem because I believed it.
I had another emergency where I couldnāt walk. Same head of the ER said and I quote āItās your mental illness that has you in pain and then proceeded to walk out of the room. At that point I broke down and left.
Later that night tried to use the bathroom, in chronic pain. I have 3 screws on my hip and a metal rod in my femur. I could move. Cried all night in pain. I call Lehigh valley hospital first thing in the morning because i couldnāt stand ir walk.
Greatfully they took me right in because I was sobbing and begging for help. They found the I was suffering from an umbilical hernia, and the X-ray showed that I had developed arthritis from these accidents. The doctor prescribed me some medication. Steroids, medication for my muscles to relax. Cramping and nausea medication for the umbilical hernia and arthritis. They felt so bad for me. I was told they did not even do X-rays to check my back and hip.
I do have insurance. Blue cross blue shield. Typically you think this type of treatment is because you have no insurance. That wasnāt the case. I believe (because I looked so terrible because of pain) I really believe they stereotyped me. I did look really bad. But the pain was unbearable. It was an emergency. I was treated more like a rehab patient than a human being begging for help. No help St Lukeās Easton hospital made me feel worse. A doctor should never tell some they are in pain because of mental illness. That verbiage in actually not proper. I would have accepted her telling me. Maybe your stress out and your body is not reacting well. Nope⦠she blantantly said āitās your mental illness, thatās why youāre in pain. 5 hours and a bag of IV later⦠i also mentioned that I havenāt eaten. Come to find out I had lost 30 lbs because of this hernia. I still debating what to do about this. It was hurtful and still on my mind. I have X-rays cat scan from Lehigh valley. I have the proof that I had and emergency. I guess these guys at Easton st. Lukeās handle things like the dad from my fat Greek wedding. He tries to fix everything with windex. And Easton St. Lukeās fixes everything by giving you IV and telling you itās mental illness. Iām sure they will charge my insurance crazy. I will request an itemized statement of that visit. I will show and speak with my insurance company if the statement not in truth. I still debating on addressing this moment. It was the worst experience in a hospital! Always never one good visit over there. The medical assistant team were nice. But that head ER woman. She is not a good person at heart. If she were she would have seen and not stereotyped me. Thanks for nothing! I will be transferring to Lehigh valley network who just recently collaborated with Jefferson hospital in Philadelphia. I tried I really tried
Someone needs to look into the head of ER. The reviews are similar⦠why?
This photo was the following day,. The results of all the steps I need to take to handle my physical issues. This team of doctors are great. Obviously I had real medical issues. But because of st Lukeās Easton. I will not move forward with when this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis large commercial building has no street number at the main entrance, so using navigation to figure out which building/the building isn't so obvious. My 80 year old mom drank barium for a day in preparation for this 4:30 CAT scan and we almost missed her appt. We arrived at 4:00 at "Easton Hospital", I chose the main entrance to at least ask for directions to radiology or look at a directory to figure it out. At 4:00 the doors were open, no employees, all empty desks. So we went on Google to try to figure out if the address was really an office nearby.
We tried mapping 205 in case my mom made an error and the GPS brought us to an empty field.. We then matched the shape of Easton hospital to the shape of the building and determined that 250 had to be the large building formerly called Easton Hospital. We drove around the block twice, saw no office called "radiology", so we went back to the main entrance to look for clues. At this time the doors were locked. Saw a small poster directing us to the ER. Entered ER, triage greeted us and phoned for a member of the Radiology staff to come get my mom. Luckily we had not missed the appointment.
Things got bizarre after my mom exited her appointment, with technician following her down the hall debating her about the driving directions. Totally petty and totally uncalled-for. My mom is old, has a poor memory, and there will be many more like her getting lost, so this woman technician should have simply apologized for the mix up and expressed some minimal sympathy, rather than getting defensive making excuses--totally unprofessional. I stepped in between the two woman and told the woman to stop escalating the conflict, and she just doubled down and began to debate me. After I told her shut up and go back to her office she then called security, also completely and totally unprofessional. This bizarre scene ended with the registration secretary, the security guard, and another random employee all refusing to give me the name of that technician so I could report this to her managers. Worse yet, the guard stated "well there are two sides to every story" a totally tone-deaf remark that basically amounts to more excuses for a petty incident.
This staff is pretty rough. They need a professional development class on how to deal with the public, no matter how annoying and mean that public is. There will 100s more senile old ladies getting lost and looking for apologies. Moral: 1)Paint "250" on the main entrance in giant print, and a darn map of the place on the front door main entrance of the giant structure so people can find the departments within. 2) Put an attendant at that main entrance to direct people nor at least a call box. 3) Never debate and make excuses when a customer is upset about something that went wrong, it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst let me say several years ago 2 wonderful doctors saved my life at this hospital so obviously NOT a disgruntled patient. However, since they have been purchased by Steward this place is a shell of what it used to be. A few months ago my son went to the ER complaining of severe head pain. They sent him home with NO treatment twice in a 24hr period. Finally went to St. Luke's where they did a cat scan and discovered a massive sinus infection. I posted about this and got a response from the guy in charge of the ER. I have to say he was very apologetic and convinced me to have faith and give it another try. I was still very leery because they have "hospitalists" instead of your own doctor being able to treat you. Unfortunately I was recently admitted. Nothing like before. Although my doctor admitted me I needed to be seen by their ER doctor and admitted by her. I had more blood work done even though I had just had it done there 4 hrs prior to justify my 31/2 hr fiasco. I explained from the minute I got there that if I was being admitted that was fine but if it was observation only forget it. I was assured by no less than 5 people that was the case. The next day after having a bunch of tests and blood work a hospitalist slips and said the doctor changed me from admitted to observation after they admitted me. Again I call the same guy and explain the situation. He seemed nice again. However, I get a call saying somewhere I signed paperwork. I explained the only thing I had was my cell and because I had no glasses I just asked them to explain everything I signed. Obviously honesty is not their strong suit. I haven't heard back yet so I guess we'll see. Since this is already long I won't go into detail now about all the stuff that happened while there. I will say I saw at least 3 hospitals and 3 specialists plus multiple tests and guess what? NO DIAGNOSIS.
BE VERY CAREFUL OF EVERYTHING YOU SIGN. IF YOU CAN'T SEE IT,...
