Last week I seen one of their products on sale for over $120 off. After speaking with a sales associate, I was told that this discount is only available to members, which requires a yearly fee of $29. I decided it was worth it and returned the following Sunday (yesterday) to make the purchase.
When I arrived, I clearly indicated the exact product I wanted, and an employee went to get it from the back. While he was doing that, he told me I could go to the register to pay and sign up for the membership, which I did, along with purchasing a one-year warranty. However, when I checked the final price, it didn’t match the expected discounted amount. When I raised this with the employee, he pulled up the pricing and explained that the product was no longer on sale—the sale had ended that Friday—but I was still saving about $25. Despite my frustration, I decided to proceed with the purchase.
I waited at the front for the product to be brought out. When it arrived on a hand truck, I noticed it looked slightly different from what I had asked for. I confirmed with an employee that it was the correct product, and he assured me it was. They then walked me to my van. While I was at the vehicle, someone radioed the associate, informing him that the product was the wrong one. We returned to the store, and they retrieved the correct item.
At this point, they processed everything in the computer, and I was told I owed an additional $60. Including the product, warranty, membership, and a bottle of auto soap, my bill totaled nearly $1,000 for a $479 product I initially came in for. I was extremely frustrated. I told them to return everything except the bottle of soap. They refunded everything except the membership fee. I asked for a refund of the membership since that was the only reason I bought it—to save on the product. They said their computer wouldn’t allow it, so they couldn’t issue a refund.
I requested to speak with a manager, but the employee claimed she was the manager. The next morning, I called Harbor Freight customer service, and they told me that’s not true—that she was able to process a refund for the membership fee.. The only thing the customer service from Corporate was able to do his offer a store credit otherwise I would need to revisit the store for the refund and to call them if there was an issue.
Overall, be cautious of what seems like a scam—this store’s practices and information about refunds and discounts...
Read moreThis particular location is always clean , the bathroom here is cleaner than most of the local restaurants . The staff is extremely helpful and they seem to actually enjoy their job . In regard to harbor freight itself , Whatever your feelings are about the quality of their tools, I have sets of their cr-mo sockets that have outlasted my snap-on and Mac sockets for a fraction of the price with a similar thickness of sidewall. For their power tools they offer multiple levels most easily summed up by I'm going to do the job once or twice, I'm going to do the job a couple of times a year and I'm going to do the job all the time. Spend your money accordingly and you won't be disappointed. Don't expect the lowest level to perform at the highest level, but the mid and high levels easily compete with the name brands out there in the majority of cases. Read the reviews of each product, they leave the good and bad ones up so you can form your...
Read moreAll in all the experience was nice, I never really have anything negative to say about Harbor Freight the only thing they can do better on is but they know they're having sale stock up on more of the sale products. And also I've already had where merchandise says one price and you want to check out the different price and then they don't give it to you for the price that's back on the sticker they give it to you for the regular price that's here nor there and like I said the only thing they can really really approve on is getting more stuff for their sales and having it stocked because they only put so much out and then they have boxes I put the stuff on so that makes you think that there's more products underneath and there's not. That experience was down in Easton , now I've gone to the other one and that one seems to attend to have more stuff in stock and in store so I don't know why that is or what but that's...
