Vacuum Doctor — Local services in Windham

I had been looking for a specific Miele vacuum and wanted to purchase it locally due to only being able to get the specific model and warranty I wanted from a dealer. I emailed a few of the dealers in my area and Vacuum Doctor was one of them. I received back a reply in a few hours as well as a follow up phone call a couple days later from the owner who was at the Scarborough location. I decided to go to their Windham location which is closest to me and check out the model in person and see what they had, the showroom is small and not very flashy like some bigger outlets but the help I received there was outstanding.

I cannot recall the gentleman's name who is at the Windham store and does the repairs and service but he was very knowledgeable and was happy to get me the exact combination of accessories I wanted to purchase, and at a lower price than it would have been online or what I was quoted from another local dealer. They had what I wanted in stock and seem to have a good selection of parts for vacuums I think you would be hard pressed to find anywhere else. They also include a yearly service of the unit at no additional charge which to me was not really a selling point initially, however after discussing what it entails I feel it is a good extra value added.

I went to the Windham office looking for a replacement part for my central vac power head. We put in the central vac in 1980. I thought it was a standard part and I could not remember if it was a Sears power head or a replacement. He said the part was not standard, doubted that the part was still available, thought I would need a new replacement, but suggested I bring in the power head for him to look at. Upon viewing the power head, he immediately recognized the brand that went out of business decades ago and stopped production on their parts. Now I was faced with having to buy a new one $$$$, yikes. Then he said to wait a minute, maybe he has one from another manufacturer that might work. Ten minutes later he handed me the power head fixed $. Every time I need vacuum bags, I have to wait for it to be a day that he is actually open. So today he advertised that he is open till 5. After I was done cleaning my houses for the day, I went to his business to get more miele bags, and all I find is a note on the door saying closed early. This is not the first time this has happened to me. So I call him on the # he left on the door. He answered and told me he had a doctors appointment. Well if you ask me that is just bad business.
