During the summer of COVID19 we took one overnight motorcycle trip to Schoodic Peninsula, 2 hours from home and not tons of people. We stayed in Crow's Nest because they rent it for 1 night visits. When Pearl opened the door to the room I was so happy to see how clean, tidy, and roomy it was. The deck is fabulous with almost 360 degree views. Perfect for sunsets. There are lots of windows for cross breezes, heat pump for warmth and AC. ||Owners are super kind and friendly. They offered us boards for under our kickstands.||We will come again and hope to stay longer. ||For breakfast I walked to Gerrish for take out. Americanos and almond croissants were fresh and delicious. ||For dinner we found Downeast Mexican Take Out 8 miles away on Rt 1. Everything including the tortillas are homemade and fabulous. I don't reccomend Salt Box. Not because it's a bit pricey. The staff are snarky. I read reviews after trying to dine there. The chef responses are Very snarky!!||||I'd pick Mainstay and Crows...
Read moreFantastic location. Wonderful views from the RV area. Each spot has a table and chairs overlooking the water. The spots are mostly close together, but there are not many of them and they are just along one line, so the front and back are wide open spaces. Makes it feel uncramped. Great beach area with rocks to climb on and a little sand area among the rocks. Very friendly and helpful owner. Close to the uncrowded Schoodic section of Acadia National Park. Ferry nearby to Bar Harbor. Everything in town is within walking distance. Love the quiet feel of the town. Nice change of pace. Highly recommend. You will want to stay extra days, and they won't be available because they book solid. So, just go ahead and book a couple extra; you won't regret it. Truly...
Read moreStayed at the Ledgelawn cottage the last few days of August. I used to come here growing up and I brought my fiancé for our anniversary. The owners, Pearl and Roger, are super nice and knowledgeable about the area. Quiet location with great views. Cottage was clean and stocked with fresh linens, cookware, and dishware. Beautiful wood flooring. Lots of windows, natural lighting, and ventilation. Just under a mile from the “downtown” area of Winter Harbor, right next to a ferry and an LL Bean bus stop. Less than an hour from MDI by boat or car. Incredible value that punches well above its weight compared to anything else nearby or within an hour of MDI. One of those special places that holds up to nostalgia and is absolutely worth...
