The children's sports center at the YMCA in Winter Park is one of the best. Their sports personnel are caring and knowledgeable. Their coaching staff are incredible with the children. Tatiana is my daughter-in-law, and I will be an unbiased advocate for her. We have been a part of this facility since Jan. 2022, going to the games both as spectators and grandparents supporting and watching our grandchildren play basketball. Tatiana coached a boys and girls team for 4 seasons. The boys and girls loved her enough to sign up season after season to be on her team. Their parents, including other children's parents that liked her style of coaching, wanted their kids on her team. Her last season with the boys and girls team, the parents got together and presented her with an award to show their appreciation for all her hard work. They showed their appreciation for her perseverance, respect, responsibility, and the passion she displayed in working with these kids every week. I didn't see that same reaction for other coaches!! In January 2024, the coordinating staff at the Y reached out to her to start an all girls basketball team. She was hesitant at first, but she was definitely the right person for it. She was and still is caring and devoted to her team. She does what a coach does. She teaches strategic plays, finds each team member's strengths and weaknesses and helps develop it. Does she scream? Yes, she does! She wants her team to hear her instructions!!! She wins games. You don't do that by screaming at a team member in disgust, criticizing or belittling any of the 8-10 girls on the team. No one would stand for that, and it has NEVER happened. What responsible parent would let that happen when their children are involved? If you want to see for yourself, come and join us. One hour of your time is all it takes. It's free, we're indoors, and you can make up...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdate 3-20-24: Very disappointed - We have the membership that doesn't include the pool because the YMCA has very limited times of the year for the splash pool. But we have the top tier outside of that. I wanted to take my daughter, 2 cousins and a friend to the Splash pool this week during spring break. I was told it would be $25 for me as an adult (mind you I am not swimming just supervising my kids), $20 per child. So when you do the math for the 2.5 hours we would have used the splash pool it was going to cost us $85.00. Or I could upgrade our membership which would cost $30 more a month for a whopping total of $142 per month plus tax and still have to pay $20 per child Which would have been even more money. CRAZY!! I would not recommend a membership with the YMCA
1 year ago: They said there was an intro discount of 30% in Dec 2022 signed up tried to use the code. Not only did the code not work it added some $29 fee so you donāt have to give a 30day notice to cancel. First time back since COVID to work out. No towels in locker rooms šā¹ļø Said itās been that way since COVID. So sick of the nonsense still using COVID as an excuse. Would have been nice if they explained that when I signed up. Came to the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe youth basketball coach name Tatiana should not be coaching children, we had her as a coach and she mainly screamed at the children, she made children cry by bringing down their confidence, and as they went to get comfort from their parents Tatiana yelled at the child to get back on the court while she was hysterically crying and didnāt want to go back. She also screamed at my child during game because she told my child sheās not allowed to speak to me, her mother. My child was scared and nervous and no longer wanted to be with this coach. As the game ended my daughter wanted to go home and the coach yelled because my child did not want to go near her and say goodbye. This is beyond disgusting and horrific. The YMCA is suppose to be about family and children and brining up their spirits instead adults like this are demolishing childrenās confidence and taking out their anger on kids who simply come here to learn and be in good environment. Instead the complete opposite is happening at the...
