Attention to all winter park residents: if ANY other company offers fiber in your neighborhood, GET IT!! Spectrum cable internet is a joke. I am currently paying 90 dollars monthly for terrible 300mb internet and the funny part is that I never actually receive the speeds I pay for, even over hardwired ethernet. On a good day I get 200-250. I get outages and drop outs multiple times per day, literally almost day. And spectrum, no matter what plan you're on, limits your UPLOAD speed to 10mb/s. This makes file transfers and hosting your own content painfully slow. It takes 2 hours to upload a 8GB file to google drive. LMAO. Most companies who offer fiber have true 1 gig upload AND download speeds so you are actually getting the speed you pay for, at a lower price, without the company artificially throttling you. I think a gig costs around 70 bucks with at&t right now.
Spectrum's monopoly over orlando and winter park is slowly coming to an end. SAY NO to their monopolistic and shady pricing strategies. Spectrum is a terrible company and the service they offer is inferior to anything else on the market AT ALL!
EDIT: To respond to the owners response, I would just like to say that there is NOTHING that you can do to remediate my problem. The service is simply inferior and you impose artificial restrictions on customer's upload speeds and then claim that it is "operating as normal", all while charging almost double than anyone else does. You do this because you KNOW that in Winter Park in particular, your customers have no other choice because of your old contract with the city that didn't allow competitors to come in. Now that the city has received enough complaints and are allowing other companies to come in, I hope you fail and start to realize that nobody wants or needs your inferior...
Read moreAfter another outage yesterday, I went to exchange my equipment at the direction of Spectrum chat due to it not coming back online. This is now the second time I’ve had to do this in the last few weeks. I’ve never had any issues with customer service via chat or in store with all my interactions until I was called a liar in the middle of the store yesterday by the store associate (name omitted). My roommate is the main account holder and as he was working (like before) I have handled the exchanging of the equipment. Last time it went smoothly. This time, I was told I could not because I am not the main account holder. I did mention there were no problems last time in which he proceeded to tell me I was lying and that no one would break that policy. I again confirmed that it happened and he asked who it was. I stated it was a female and he said the only one there would never do that and that I was flat out lying. He then proceeded to “bend” the “biggest policy” for me without consulting his manager after I showed the account number and picture of the ID’s. If this is the policy, I completely understand but there needs to be consistency. Also it was extremely upsetting to be called a liar multiple times in the middle of the store. I would cancel my Spectrum service in a heartbeat if they weren’t the sole provider for my area due to this extremely poor customer service...
Read moreToday I returned three cable box receivers to the store at 1981 Aloma Ave, Winter Park Fl. When I walked in the door there was one guy behind the counter working with a customer. Before the door closed behind me this guy yelled, "are you returning equipment?" I said "Yes." He then said. that I could not leave it there, I should "take it to a UPS store." I said, "I was told to bring the equipment here." He said well "You should take it to a UPS store." I said, "I wasn't going to do that." He said, " Well you can just leave over there in front that counter, but you won't get a receipt." I brought the two large boxes over to the counter, and was preparing to take a picture of them in the store. I was surprised at how this first guy behaved. I would rate this part of the experience with no stars.
But just then another man came out a door from behind the counters and came over to where I was. "He asked how he could help me. I told him. Dwayne was friendly, polite and helpful. Within five minutes he checked all the returned boxes in and printed a receipt for me. He also told me about Spectrum's mobile service. Dwayne is an excellent representative of Spectrum. So while I would rate this part of the experience...
