TL;DR Terrible work and rude. Avoid at all costs.
I bought a dress from Saree Bazaar across the street. I’m not sure if they are affiliated but the woman at that store (who by the way lied and told me there was enough fabric sewn into the dress to create long sleeves) sent me over to Surti Saree to get the dress tailored. This work would include creating “long” sleeves with lining, and tightening the dress. The day we went to the store the (very rude) tailor told us he didn’t have any matching fabric for the sleeve lining, and that we should come back the next day and he’d have the dress ready to go. He told me the fabric included was not enough for long sleeves but he would make them as long as possible. When I returned the next day, he lined my chiffon pink sleeves with purple cotton (not even ironed? very wrinkly). The sleeves in general were misshaped and awkward, and he managed to make them such that the stitches that were used to attach the material to the inside of the dress originally were prominently facing outwards on the sleeves he created. Complete lack of common sense. He also overtightened the dress and did so asymmetrically. When I refused to accept his shoddy work he sent me across the street to buy new fabric and reclined the sleeves, which made them look very marginally better but still pretty awful in terms of shape and fit. I finally gave up and went to a tailor in a different state to have the whole thing redone, which meant I had to buy more sleeve fabric because the original was butchered beyond belief. I needed up spending double the cost of the dress in tailoring fees. Worst tailoring experience of my life. Unbelievable that they are still in business since their quality of work and attitude towards customers are both terrible. Also, can confirm from below reviews that they are incredibly unorganized with the clothes they are working on, everything is strewn across the floor haphazardly. It took him a solid 5 minutes of sifting through things to even find my outfit and I had given it to him less than 24...
Read moreI went in today to get a saree blouse to match a skirt I already had. Nobody else in the area had a good selection of saree blouses on their own, but Surti's had a great selection of beautiful pieces. We also found a salwar for my fiancee to wear to a family party. They were able to tailor the blouse in 5 minutes for no extra cost, and tailored the salwar in about 3 hours for a reasonable price. The owners were very nice and helped explain how to wear the blouse correctly and let me try on a ready to wear saree. As a gori wife buying Indian clothes I really appreciated their patience and kindness. I will be bringing my sarees in to be stitched because I cannot for the life of me wrap one myself.
Some reviewers have mentioned that they put clothes on the floor. This is true if there are multiple garments waiting to be stitched, it's a very small space and they're working on a lot of items at once. But they are behind the counter and the floor is clean and away from anywhere customers would have stepped so it's really...
Read moreSweet owners but kind of irritated. I gave them my engagement dress to tighten and once they returned it …I found not ONE but TWO stains. After 10-15 minutes of using tide to go and shout the orange stains they created on my white dress have not left. So true to what Valentina has said. They leave your dress on the floor. People go in with their shoes so ofcourse your dress will get stained if it’s left on the floor. He claimed it was my bag but you visibly saw some orange residue left not only left on the clothes but on top of the beading, as if someone dropped food on it, and when I went to inspect my bag, no orange residue what’s so ever. Stitching is fine but I would be weary to take an expensive article of clothing for tailoring . Pictures were taken after relentlessly trying to take out the stain with...
