This was the first time that I have been to ulta. (Sephora is my usual place.) There were a couple of things I wanted to purchase that sephora doesn't carry, and was told that ulta might have them. I was kinda excited to check out a new place with make up etc. My first impression walking in was surprised. There was a lot of makeup etc to look at. I was excited until I was greeted by a girl that clearly didn't know how to put makeup on. She looked like a clown! I am not exaggerating! My thought was, if she wore her makeup like that, I was not about to take any advice from her. The next person to ask me if I needed anything was nice, but her makeup was just as bad! A couple of other employees kept going behind a wall and talking. That I don't mind, except when they are swearing loudly enough for customers to clearly hear! I like to take my time and look at things that are new and just coming out, but everything I asked about either was gone, or they didn't have, even though it says online, " available only at ulta". Even one of the employees I asked was baffled! I asked if I could get some samples of a couple of things, and was told that they don't do that for some products. I was there for maybe an hour when I was told by an employee that I was "sure here for a long time, was I having trouble finding something?" I finally threw in the towel and went to go pay. The cashier was very nice and her makeup actually looked beautiful!! Maybe she could teach the other girls on the floor how to apply makeup? I won't be going back. This experience only made me love...
Read moreI hadnât been inside an Ulta in years. I was tired of feeling unwelcome by the staff. However, I was in a bind and visited this location recently, and ended up having a very positive experience.
I will say, much of the staff was again, not super welcoming. I was not acknowledged by anyone on the floor or offered help, despite probably looking very lost. Eventually, I went to the counter and asked a young Latina woman to help me. She left the register to help and she was FANTASTIC.
I needed to buy a ton of items and she walked me through the store, showed me products in my price range, gave recommendations, tested some products on me, and was extremely kind. A few other young women joined in to help here and there. The young cashier who rang up my purchase was also incredibly kind and helpful.
Makeup is intimidating for many people and women. Ulta has an opportunity to train staff to be welcoming and create an environment that creates returning and long term customers. I feel like some of the typical Ulta employees tend to make snap judgements based on peopleâs appearances. I rarely dress my best when I run errands but that doesnât mean Iâm not there to spend money. I can tell you that I spent more at Ulta in this one visit than I ever have before, and thatâs because I received great service for once.
I suggest Ulta keep hiring and investing in these Gen Z employees, they bring an approachable and non judgmental atmosphere that us older generations...
Read moreI have only visited the Woodbury location twice. Usually shop at Nordstrom for Estee. Was in need of a substitute foundation and some random other items, live in the area so what the heck. Overall, the experience was ok. Not a fan of being ambushed at the door by visiting vendors but, ok yes, I'll take you up on your offer of a complimentary mini facial. Gal was friendly and well trained. Told her before I sat down I had all I was going to purchase in my bag already she steadfastly and admirably treated me well, in return I listened to her schpeel. I applaud her efforts to put the $200+ worth of product in my bag and proceed to shop for eyeshadow, the color I wanted from MAC was not available, No one could figure out why?" It's the most popular shade we se.ll".. but apparently, No one keeps inventory (that is a corporate thing). I then meander to the drug store options. I literally had to kneel to actually see these products. There was no rhyme or reason to how they were displayed. It was almost as though I was being punished for daring to look at lower priced makeup.. None the less I managed to forage through the"budget" aisle and find a couple things from Loreal. Long story short, women spend billions of dollars on cosmetics, some but high, some but low, all should be treated the same. ULTA executives, spend a little time in your stores, you're blissfully unaware of how they are operating. There's a reason I own Estee stock, they know what...
