TL;DR: This is authentic, delicious Chinese food. All dishes were tasty, but just like their restaurant name, if the menu item has a pepper on it, be warned (this is coming from someone who loves spicy food). Menu is confusing and could use improvement. Employees were great, food came out quickly, we will be returning!
Here's my full review of Legendary Spice! My boyfriend and I ordered pork steamed buns for an appetizer. He ordered mongolian beef as his main dish, while I decided to get the chicken dry pot as mine. Overall, everything was delicious! - I will give a word of warning, though. Holy flaming food, my dry pot was extra spicy despite it's two pepper rating on the menu. I tend to love rather spicy, numbing food (which is the flavor profile you will get from spicy Szechuan cuisine), but it was probably toward the top of the spice meter to me. I heard a guy one table over also saying to his kid his food was really spicy and he needed to drink more water. So, food was rather tasty, but I want to note that those pepper ratings should not be taken lightly (especially if you are weak with spicy food). I've had dry pots before at other authentic Chinese cuisine places, but this is definitely the most spicy one yet.
One thing I wanted to put as a suggestion is to make the menu more readable. While I think it's nice to add context about the history of these dishes, it's a bit difficult and annoying when you're hungry and you want to figure out what to eat, but each page has the menu items in a different text size and scattered throughout the pages. I think reorganization of the menu (like putting the history at the back, for people to look at while waiting for their meal) would greatly help speed up and streamline the ordering process. I think there are also ways of categorizing the dishes better so that people not familiar with Asian or Chinese food can understand it.
As for the service, the employee who served us was very kind and attentive. The dishes came out rather quickly and the bill was served promptly after we finished our meal.
I wish this restaurant lots of success! Woodbury needs more authentic Asian food. I'm so happy I can get my fix of Chinese food here now! We will be...
Read moreOur food had absolutely no flavor. They did discount the bill a little bit for that reason. However, our food was also barely room temperature. The Kung pow chicken, rice and crab ragoon, were all cold. Not sure why it was like that. But it was cold. The booth has a large center piece, so if you are over 5.5’ tall, your legs won’t fit. Staff was friendly, just our waiter who wore a hat, played on his phone and never came back to check on us, lowed the score. The atmosphere is cute. The lowered score was for the booths with no leg room and some tables have tiny stools with no backs to sit on. I should also mention the prices are pretty high for the quality of food. Pretty service pieces can’t make up for food quality. Because my review was so low, I came back to edit it after I read through other reviews. Had I did that first, we would have NEVER gone to this place. My experience was the same as so many others. I did not mention someone yelling behind the cooking area because I didn’t know what was going on. Sounds like the way they treat employees is horrible! This place...
Read moreMy husband and I came for dinner and it was surprisingly quiet. We ordered 6 dishes: Szechuan wontons, famous Tianjin crepes, mapo tofu, Dan Dan noodles, braised pork with rice, and the fermented rice wine eel. Everything came in a timely manner and was delicious. Mapo Tofu had a nice numbing spice that was perfect with rice and a cup of green tea. Dan Dan noodles had a chewy bite. As we were eating the Tianjin crepes, we realized they were one of those Chinese street foods from the Facebook reels of the crepe, sauce, and bread. Tianjin crepes were surprisingly tasty and we can see why it seems to be a popular street food. The braised pork with rice was nicely tender and not too sweet like other places. For the fermented rice wine eel, it did not look appealing when it arrived, but it was crispy and went perfect with our tub of rice. All in all, everything was perfectly seasoned and tasty. We will definitely be...
